The NFL is clearly Islamophobic.

By Jason Abbruzzese

A short slide followed by a brief moment on his hands and knees resulted in an excessive celebration penalty on Kansas City Chiefs defensive player Husain Abdullah during Monday night's game against the New England Patriots.

It has also ignited fierce criticism from those who see the penalty as a double standard, and the NFL has since backtracked on flagging the Chiefs safety.

Abdullah, a devout Muslim, intercepted Tom Brady during the fourth quarter of last night's blowout, running the turnover back for a touchdown. After several steps into the end zone, Abdullah slid to his knees and bent to put his hands on the ground in a prayer pose.

The move resulted in a 15-yard penalty for excessive celebration enforced on the following kickoff. The NFL's rulebook prohibits a variety of "unsportsmanlike conduct" including "any celebrations or demonstrations while on the ground." The severe crackdown on end zone celebrations has earned the NFL the nickname, the "No Fun League."

However, religious expressions are protected against penalty in the NFL. Tim Tebow's kneel has grown into an iconic move known as "Tebowing."

They may not have known what he was doing. But yeah they need to enforce things evenly.

I am sure Rog will initiate some multicultural sensitivity training for the officials immediately.

LOL .. Consistency is Not a word they know in the NFL !

It should be illegal regardless. Praising any God for football is stupid and I'm surprised if Muslims don't take offense to it!

Ya never know. They might cut his head off yet.

If going to the ground is a penalty, the Lambeau Leap should be a 15 yarder, too.

This was my experience at the game on Sunday. My first since 2005. The breaks for everything coupled with the kickoff always soaring through the endzone REALLY disrupt the flow of the game. Moving the kickoff forward destroyed a huge piece of this game. You literally can't get excited about anything that has happened until you double scan the field for flags and wait for the possibility of a challenge. The refs make the safest possible call knowing that the teams have a good chance to challenge if they are wrong. This leads to incorrect calls on relatively simple plays like AB's third down catch by the sidelines. I would say the actual game is quite a bit worse since the last I saw. Though the Pitt game wasn't exactly a great product, it flowed properly and didn't seem so uneven in terms of time movement. All this **** works on TV for fantasy fans, but does not make for a great game day experience.

and there ya have it folks, the NFL package vs season tickets and the winner is........the money er I mean safety, in a landslide.

They are very consistent. They are consistently bad.

Part of the problem is that there are so many new penalties that they don't know WTF to call and when to call it.

All that matters is how much James Harrison will be fined for this.

Ive been saying this for years . . .the officials need to be full time! No more part-timers. they need to study the rule book and train year round . . .both physically to keep up with much younger athletes and mentally to better understand the rule changes.

Has Grahm? dunked one yet? The officiating is bad for a reason. Why do you think it's so you don't know if it is a catch or not? It's so the call can go either way, to help manipulate the score / outcome. Gambling is the big money, big money determines most out come of games. Obviously they don't want to control out come of every game so as there is some mystic left. Why do you think the Billicheat tapes were destroyed? You can think what you want, but there is a reason for the bad officiating. You worry more about the bad calls, then the out come of the game. Keeps yaz betting. I'm talking in general, no one specific.
