The Marvel star’s top shows the American flag with a coiled snake over the top and a message underneath which reads “Don’t Tread On Me.”

The writing and snake combo on its own is depicted on the Gadsden flag; a symbol created by Christopher Gadsden, a Charleston-born brigadier general in the Continental Army.

It came to prominence during the Revolutionary War of the US by colonists who wanted independence from Great Britain.

Although it is one of the symbols and flags used by the U.S. Men’s Soccer Team, Metallica, as well as some libertarian groups, over the years the flag has been adopted by Far Right political groups like the Tea Party, as well as gun-toting supporters of the Second Amendment.

It has therefore become a symbol of more conservative and far right individuals and, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of the US, it also is “sometimes interpreted to convey racially-tinged messages in some contexts.”

Can you imagine a liberal today trying to tell me the decendents of Abraham Lincoln (because they are white) need to pay REPARATIONS to blacks? The President who almost single-handedly kept the North in the Civil War until its conclusion? The President who forced through and bought off congress to pass the 13th Amendment?

Personally, despite what Progressives on this board think, I support Gay Americans. Including those in my family. They are entitled to happiness.

Pratt is an unapologetic Christian and has spoken of his faith many times. I would not be surprised if some people are trying to take home down.

it doesnt matter, Tim. it really doesn't. The Left is so far unhinged that adopting the rainbow flag will not even raise an eyebrow.
I, too, have gay people in my family. I'm sure a lot of us do. I'm willing to guess we all want our family members and their families to be happy as well.

When we're suddenly told that essentially any version of the American flag is racist, how are we to respond? The same flag that is considered racist is also the same flag that allows people the liberty to call it racist, the freedom to confront racism and the opportunity to move past racism. Honoring the flag does not mean someone is racist. Not at all.

To paraphrase, "All this for a damn flag" as we willingly allow, and encourage, people from other countries to wave the flags of their origin - places they're attempting to escape for better lives - into our country so they - and those like-minded - can desecrate our flag and bloat from the fabric this country provides.
 
The slogan "America, Love it or Leave it" has been used during our country's entire existence. Trump says it and all of a sudden it's racist.
