I have been watching quite a few of these episodes, there are at least 100 of them and they seem to cover almost every topic you could imagine. If you have every grown up with in 50 miles of Pittsburgh you have heard things that have been said in the shows.

Traditionally made by adding brown sugar and a smidgen of vinegar to ketchup, in our family. Sweet pickle relish optional.

None were by the airport area.
You had to travel to Coraopolis for the nearest Isalys from the GPA, we were lucky to only have to go dahn the hill from the Convent.

Everyone's taste is not the same that's why hojos had so many flavors. Hope you find something else to enjoy while waiting for the next Steeler game.

I enjoy these for the same reason the folks that made them made them. They offer a humorous look into our past likely covering many things that span several generations. I particularly like the references to saving electricity, gas, the refrigerator etc. The trip to Kennywood and the zoo bring back memories from when I was a kid to when I took my kids. The drive down the street in the beginning of each episode brings back memories of my old neighborhoods when I lived back east. At least these are the fond memories of the area. And the accent and yinz, reminds me of folks I knew years ago but have lost track of.

I love these, all of them. I never lived even close enough to be far away from PITTSBURGH, but still get them. Makes me feel at home.

Salute the nation

Chipped ham(Blech)?

BBQ Ham?

Sweet Relish and ketchup Barbecue sauce?

Damn, Yankee People must have defective taste buds.

My favorite is an early one about the Slip 'n Slide. Man does that take me back.

My first job out of college in the 80's was with K-Mart and they sent me to Upstate NY. Our store had a lunch counter and they made a great hot ham sandwich. I order one, they bring it, I promptly squeeze a mess of Heinz ketchup on it, and ten heads at the counter turn in unison looking at me like "WTF? and ready to vomit. I was like, "Whaaaat?"
Dude...Isaly's chipped ham fried up with Isaly's BBQ sauce on a hamburger bun is a delicacy. Epic goodness. Shoot, even Sam's Club here sells Isaly's BBQ sauce. And Red Bull Inn Italian salad dressing...even though the Red Bull Inn doesn't exist any more. It's that good.

No, not genuine Isaly's chipped ham. The only kind worth buying. Has enough sodium in it to keep you preserved too. Eat that along with some Twinkies every day and you'll live forever.

See? Says "gluten free". It's good for you. Get the BBQ sauce and give me your address and I'll FedEx you a half pound of real chip chopped ham.

LOL....It's definitely an acquired taste 'D' . Jon's right though, Isaly's chipped chopped ham is saltier tasting. I can get chopped ham here in the deli, get it chipped real fine and it doesn't taste the same. I have done that and made chipped ham bbq sammiches for games here in Fl and some people loved them, some didn't.

Careful, people won't know who Jon is. :p

Depends on the neighborhood you grew up in. My neighborhood looked exactly like the one in the beginning of the videos, blue collar, and at least half the dads acted and talked like that.
The Slip 'n Slide video, that was my childhood in a nutshell right there.

I guess that is why I don't get it. Pittsburgh dad is like every single one of my uncles. it isn't entertainment to me it is life.

I am guessing you are still in the area and live with some of the things you see in there on a daily basis. I am now 1500 miles away and listening to yall and how bout them cowboys **** all the time. For me it is a trip down memory lane. And instead of it being used to make fun of someone it brings back sayings from my youth, and some things I have done or said, look at the leaves the lights on episode for a taste. I particularly enjoyed the scene when he was outside with the lights off and when he turned around every light in the house was on. In my case I had just arrived home from work at about 1130 pm and every light in the house was on except the kids bedrooms, even the attic, and my wife was in bed reading.

maybe that is why I don't get it. Most of our family moved away back in the 70s. most moved to Maryland/va. I moved from Pittsburgh when I was 8. all those things happened in the house growing up, and quite honestly I am thought of as the light Nazi in my house. I just don't associate it with Pittsburgh.
