I thought I’d share with the boys my experience yesterday at the Steeler Bar I chose to watch the game. Living in Houston for many years now I’ve never lost my devotion to the Steelers. I watch any Steeler game that’s televised or simply stream the game which sucks but better than nothing. Also manage to travel to Pittsburgh to attend a game every year as well. Enough about that.
Decided this year I wanted to be among Yinzers to see the games so I went to a local bar and low and behold there was an entire section of them. Folks from Pa, NJ, obviously Texas, they all had their black n gold jerseys on. They have been going for years together and lot of them were family but they excepted me into their group. I had a blast and they even included me in on the birthday celebration for one of the ladies. Steelers fans are unique and I still think the best. These folks were very passionate and if you had ever been to a game at Heinz Field, it felt like being there except the beer was cheaper.
Just thought I’d share my experience with the board.

What part of Houston?

I was born and raised on the east side of Houston - outside the loop

I've been to many sports bars and on Sundays there are always a lot of Steeler faithful to watch the games with.

Coolie, I know you’re from Houston as I’ve been part of the board a long time. So I’m in Kingwood and went to a place called Molly’s Pub in Kingwood. Been in Houston now 43 years but grew up in Pittsburgh. Love it here but always kept my allegiance to the Steelers.

Coolie's from Houston?!?

And I thought he was a Coog's fan because he like the uniforms?

Nice story. Very unique fans. Met one of my best friends watching Steelers game at a bar in Disney world while we were both on vacation from opposite ends of the country. Always have someone no matter where I am in the US give me a nod or quick “Go Steelers” when I’m wearing shirt, hat, etc. Glad you had fun.

Coolie is a die hard Coogs fan and I’m an Aggies fan since I graduated from A&M. Pittsburgh boy graduated from A&M. Who would have thunk it?

It’s funny, I was the only one without my Steeler jersey on instead wearing my US Army shirt which is black n’ gold. Next week I start wearing my Steeler jersey Rothlisberger until my Pickett jersey comes in.

There's a bar on the west side of Houston called the End Zone that is always packed with Steelers fans. It's on FM 1093 ( others might call it Westheimer).

Thank you xjx! That’s a hike for me from Kingwood for those of you that know Houston but good to have other options. Our son and his gf live down there so maybe a possibility.

yeah I figured you knew that but was just curious which area you were in

I used to go to one in the Woodlands that was always packed with Steeler fans

It simply amazes as to how many, and faraway places STEELERS fans are. Virtually every trip I've ever taken I've came across steelers fans and very friendly to boot.

Salute the nation

A friend of mine was in town for business so I met him at a bar to watch the game. Bar got noisy and the damn sound system wasn’t loud enough so we couldn’t figure out what the hell was going on whenever there was a stoppage or the official was explaining a ruling. That was the wrong game to have that problem. CBS coverage kinda sucked too in that they didn’t show replays of some crucial penalty calls.

My oldest brother used to live in the Woodlands.

Lotta people left western PA in the 80’s and moved to Texas in search of work. Wife and I went to FL in December a few years ago, my folks had a winter home in Ft. Myers and I had some frequent flyer miles I had to use or lose. Found a Steelers Bar (since closed), pretty big place that was formerly a supermarket. After folks found out that we were actually from here we didn’t buy a drink the rest of the night.

Thanks for sharing this great experience. When travelling I have always sought out Steelers bars and Steelers' fans are always so welcoming. Relocated to NC a couple years ago, found a Steelers bar (co-owned by Steelers and Cowboys fans LOL) and, once COVID restrictions were lifted, it was a great way to enjoy games and meet people.

Mrs. Fan and I used to run a huge Steelers fan club in a small town in So Cal. About 200 folks per week. Still keep us with many of them. This family is legit.
