Recently in an interview with CBS Sports, Pittsburgh Steelers starting running back Najee Harris was asked who he wanted to be the next quarterback for the Steelers. With Ben Roethlisberger announcing his retirement earlier this month, the most important question this offseason is who will be the successor to 7 and Harris has obviously been thinking about that question.

"Deshaun Watson is always in there. Aaron Rodgers, I like. Even guys like Jimmy G, I like him too. Just a guy that wants to come in there and compete."

Harris was not bashful with his answer as he said, “There are names that pass my mind. Deshaun Watson is always in there. Aaron Rodgers obviously I like. Even guys like Jimmy G (Jimmy Garappolo), I like him too”. Harris went on to add, “I just want a guy who wants to come in and compete. I think that’ll fit the offense.. Whoever is over there, I am just happy to play with whoever”. Harris obviously will have very little, if any, say in who the Steelers will trot out there behind center in 2022, but it is interesting to hear his opinion on the ever so important matter.

There are a bevy of quarterbacks who will be options for the Steelers this offseason. However, it is interesting that Harris did not name any of the current quarterbacks on the Steelers roster. It’s no secret that the Steelers are intrigued in Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins, but it is unclear whether or not they trust them to quarterback a team for an entire season. Both have their pros and cons, but it’s not exactly a ringing endorsement from your teammates when they don’t even mention your name in conversations about who they want to play quarterback next year.

Whoever ends up playing quarterback for the Steelers next year will clearly have huge shoes to fill. However, it will be a little easier with a great running back in Harris and an above average receiving core.

Who do you want to see take over for Roethlisberger in 2022? Sound off in the comments below!

He didn’t answer all
PC and say anything close to “I like the guys we have in the locker room”

Hmmm

Jameis - meh - he's immobile and prone to fumbling and throwing ints. Jimmy G - meh - he's nothing more than a game manager. Rudolph can do that. Absolutely, NO to Watson and the baggage and suspension he will bring with him. Plus he would cost us the future of the team. Giving up multiple No. 1's and a huge cap hit just makes no sense for a team with so many needs. Sure, get the QB and then, maybe, build a team in 5 years when you have some more cap space and some top picks back. It's just dumb. Bring in Trubisky and let him compete. Draft a QB in a year or two when the field is better in the draft.

Glad he's not the GM..lol. Hell of a rb though.

Najee must have been sleep talking on the Watson comment.

Salute the nation

I just don't think the guy is going to be thru with his off the field issues by the time the regular season rolls around. I don't anticipate the Steelers even sniffing in his direction.

A criminal.
A prima Donna.
A guy with NE stink on him.
No thanks.

And jameis is an interception machine.
