Najee to be used like a receiver.

Never mind that ****. How about getting him into space and putting the ball in his hands so he can run around a linebacker or through a DB. Bell was not a better slot than the 4th best wr. He wasn't. And they usually refused to cover him with a linebacker.
 
Najee doesn't need to be used like a receiver, but they do need to involve him in the passing game. He averaged over 4 receptions per game last year compared to just 2.5 per game this season.

And all but one are way too late in the progression and leave a linebacker sledding downhill as he catches giving him zero chance.
 
Our receivers need to be used like receivers. THIS is RIDICULOUS! The routes Pickens was asked to run yesterday compared to those Miami had Waddle and Hill run. And it doesn't get better when you look at DJ and Claypool's routes.

Amen! This ******** is not only stymying a year of Pickett's development, he's doing the same to Pickens, getting 'Muth hammered (because everyone knows that in the 4th when the Steelers need chunks, they'll finally go to 'Muth in the middle of the field) and just generally ******* up the offense in ways unimagined before.
 
This Steelers team is so broken from the owner who is delusional and refuses to realize things are broken everywhere from scouting to HC, Coordinators, position coaches, players.
Art simply must realize what a dumpster fire we have here and must change his thinking.
I get that he won’t fire Tomlin but he needs to pull a power play like his father did with Noll at the end f the season and replace every coach and coordinator on this staff except Brian Flores.
I offer coach Flores Defensive Coordinator Assistant HC, the rest would be gone.
Have Omar and Andy interview the best candidates for the offensive coordinator and yes it’s ok to hire someone not from Pittsburgh.
Have Omar and Andy interview all the assistant position coaches. Keep Tomlin out of it and make it clear the coordinators will do their jobs. Tomlin needs to be more in the administrative part of the HC duties. He’s not a strategist and should leave that up to the coordinators. Hell, he has one year as a defensive coordinator where his defense in Minnesota was near the bottom.
Also, keep him away from the draft and let Andy, Omar and the scouts facilitate that. Yes, take his input but that’s as far as it goes.
Some of these picks smell of Tomlin’s heavy input, Najee, Bush, Freirmuth, Pickens, Claypool, when we should have been rebuilding the OL and DL.
I’m ok with Pickens and Freirmuth but the rest I could have been fine replacing with OL.
Art must realize it’s not a very good team and probably should consider moving either DJ or Claypool, Bush this year for draft capital and if Najee doesn’t turn into the RB they thought they were getting both this and next year, then I’d attempt to move on from him in 2023 by that trade deadline.
I just don’t see any burst and he’s too slow to keep running wide. I think you get the burst your looking for in Warren plus the kid can block as well.
Najee is why you don’t draft these RBs in
the first round. We could have had the best center in the draft whose a pro bowler instead and drafted a RB in the third that draft instead of Kendrick Green.
Instead of moving up from 20 to 10 and giving up our second round pick to draft Bush we could have had two starting OL.
Got to keep Tomlin away from the draft as much as possible. He’s got way to much power and it shows the results every week.
Ben was the one constant that kept his head above water now that constant is gone and Tomlin is sinking in his own crap.

I laughed when I saw the title of the thread🤪 like you said.....we don’t even use our receivers as receivers. Just a joke. I’ve watched a lot of football in my life. The last 4 years is just mind boggling.

Ju ju’s stats last 2 games 124 yards and 113 yards. Hmmmmmm I wonder if our current receivers would like to get the **** out of town. Just a joke. Gutless coaching/scheme
 
Najee had 76 receptions as a rookie. He is a security blanket for the QB and especially someone like Pickett. It seems those dump-offs or designed plays aren't even in the playbook anymore. They help the other receivers get space. I'm not saying he should get 76 receptions this year but he needs 3 or 4 per game regularly and not behind the LOS on 3rd and long. There are so many issues with the play calling on this offense, the only thing to do is get rid of Canaduh and Rooney tell Tomlin to let his coordinators do their jobs.

JuJu is having a great season in KC. That was a perfect move for him.

Actually his Vikings defense had the unusual distinction of being #1 against the run and dead last #32 against the pass. Possibly the only time in the history of the league that's happened.
Last year here we had T.J. Watt who was DPOY and tied the single season sack record yet our pass defense was #14 and run defense was dead last.
