Vance Walker got a $8268 fine for his leg whip trip on Roethlisberger. And it isn't even that I think he was intentionally trying to hurt him. But he was intentionally trying to trip him with his tree trunk leg and EASILY could have blown out his knee. Yet Lynch gets a 11,000 fine for jumping in the endzone. And guys routinely get larger fines for the helmet to helmet where the runner lowers his head into the strike zone. There are other parts of the body that have life long repercussions Roger. It takes a minimum of 10-11 months to rehab a bad knee injury.

How did they come up with the $8268 figure?

Lets see start out with a $8000 fine. Add $250 for the Goodel hates the Steeler's tax, and an 18 proceesing fee?

Wait, I got this backwards....These should be deductions right? lol

A re-hashed p[oint. Like the geico comercial, "everybody knows godell sucks" Roger and company have been clueless for a long time. They really could care less of head trama / injury. It's the perception of them caring, that they are concerned about. Something that will hold up, with internt, in trial. The leg whip, yes could end a career, but hardly class action suit material. Realize the epic amount off money, then look at what "EPIC" event, hat could dent the money. That is what the good O'l boys of football are worried about. Individul Player safety, shlit, small potatoe, CLASS action items, now thats big. All the while protecting the FF players.

Not to worry folks...

Look for goodell to "resign" sometime after the Super Bowl and before the draft.

Rooney's and Mara's inquisition of him are going to uncover a culture un-becoming of the shield...

ONLY if the real truth comes out. I think the league will cover most up, due to the money potential involved. Best case, he gets fired / retired, new puppet hired and we all move on. Most likely, NOTHING

Goodell does NOTHING without to the COMPLETE approval of the OWNERS. The OWNERS are responsible for the NFL product being fed to us today.

I am not really a fan of this NFL, but I do not direct my dis-approval at Goodell, it is squarely placed on the owners. I am of the opinion that by not spending ANY money on the NFL, is hits those reponsible for this, the OWNERS.

The amount of the fines is negotiated and set out by the CBA. This was a first offense, so this is the lowest amount that can be fined. How they came up with that amount, I'm not sure. But yeah, the league pays a lot of lip service to player safety and then wants to add an extra set of playoff games and increase the regular season to 18 games. Not to mention the Thursday night games that every player hates.

I guess that is the point. Intent is the biggest piece of the puzzle. Player A comes to make a tackle and is border line in the strike zone making helmet to helmet contact when his opponent ducks into the contact. $8000 fine. This piece of **** purposely tries to trip his opponent which is by any definition a cheap shot. $8000. that just doesn't make sense.

Yet the officials got a full pay check. I always say when I see one of those plays, can you imagine if that was Brady or Manning, hell the review official would have thrown a flag.

The replay showed he intentionally kicked Ben in the leg. Not sure how you intentionally kick someone without the intent to hurt. That fine is ridiculous.

But Ben is probably the biggest, strongest and toughest QB in the league so he doesn't need protecting..../Commish

Yes it was intentional and an attempt to injure another player and it should have drawn a suspension along with the fine.

Here's the lowdown on the NFL and player safety:

THE NFL DOES NOT CARE ABOUT PLAYER SAFETY.

They care about expanding the passing game by penalizing defenses.

More touchdowns = More ratings = More ad money.

If the actually NFL cared about player safety, CUT BLOCKING WOULD HAVE BEEN BANNED 10 YEARS AGO. But because cut blocks help the offense, and banning them would protect defensive players, cut blocking is not only legal it's a staple of NFL technique.

Right? They suspend that jerk in Detroit for stomping on a dude's leg...But just a parking ticket for the leg whip on a franchise QB...what the **** ever.
