Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine testing and drills is officially in the books. On Day 1 there were a lot of players who managed to help their draft stock, as well as a couple that hurt it. Check that list out here.

Now, let’s take a look to see which running backs and offensive linemen helped or hurt themselves the most on day number 2.

Winners

Breece Hall, RB, Iowa State

Hall is fighting to claim the top spot as the first running back taken in this April’s NFL Draft, and he helped his case on Friday. He recorded a 4.39s 40 yard dash, a 10 foot 6 inch broad jump, and a group best 40 inch vertical. Hall also performed well in the field drills looking fluid in all aspects. Today Hall might’ve done enough to push him into the lead as the top running back in this year’s draft.

Rachaad White, RB, Arizona State

White is viewed as a potential late round pick due to his lack of speed and explosion. However, his testing numbers in Indianapolis will beg to differ, as he clocked a 4.48s 40 yard dash, a 38 inch vertical, and a 10 foot 5 inch broad jump. Both jumps were top 5 for the running back group. White continues to check off the boxes that were keeping him down draft boards the last couple months.

Abraham Lucas, OT, Washington State

Coming into the draft process, Lucas is someone that has been talked about at times as a candidate to move inside from his tackle position he played in college as he has had trouble with speed and quickness on the outside. After putting up the top numbers in both the 20 yard shuttle and the 3-cone drill, Lucas showed he has the quickness necessary to stay at tackle if coached up properly.

Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa

The hype train has been around Penning for some time now, as he possesses the mean streak people love to see in offensive lineman as well as good athleticism. That train continued to pick up steam on Friday as all his speed and agility testing numbers were near the top of the group.

Losers

Kyren Williams, RB, Notre Dame

Based on film no one came into the combine expecting elite speed from Williams, but he had the slowest 40 yard dash of the running backs that participated clocking a time of 4.65s. Williams ultimately should be fine, as his first step quickness, vision, and toughness are what makes him a good running back. However, being the slowest of the group is never something that goes unnoticed.

Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa

It is odd to have someone who didn’t perform listed, but Linderbaum definitely was a loser coming out of the combine’s 2nd day. The reason Linderbaum is a loser at the combine is because of his arm measurement. He ended up measuring in with 31 1/8″ arm length, which is tied for the 5th shortest ever at the NFL Combine for a center. While it doesn’t mean he will be a bad NFL player and I don’t like reading too much into measurements, it’ll definitely make NFL teams take a deeper look at him before making him their first round pick in April.

Obinna Eze, OT, TCU

Eze had extremely poor showing in the bench press (last) and both the 3-cone drill and 20 yard shuffle, finishing in the bottom 4 in both. Eze is a former basketball player that is going to need a lot of work with technique in the pros, so his lack of upper body strength and agility are going to be big knocks against him in his hopes to be a Day 3 pick.

Let us know who you think impresses throughout the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine, and be sure to check back in for more updates as the rest of the prospects perform!
