The NFL set the 2022 Salary cap at $208.2M today. My question is for those of you who are cap gurus.
The Steelers top 51 players amount to $163,962,980. Does that actually mean the Steelers have $44,237,020 in available cap space (minus what they will have to put aside for draft picks)?
If so, that's a helluv an amount of cash to work with; without having to extend/rework work contracts.

did you count dead cap money? It's about 22M according to spotrac, 10M from Ben, then some from Juju, Ebron and even Ingram...
then there's the rollover from last season and finally we have almost 30M available before cutting any fat on the roster (no pun intended towards Banner)

OK, I see. Spotrac breaks it down in an easier way to understand than Overthecap.
Thanks for the information.

Ben's can be lowered I think in June. By 3 mil if I remember correctly.

Some here wanted him to work for free and even be cut, could you imagine anyone else having a productive year behind that line........ other than BEN ???

Not many. His throwing - release was something special. The alternative would have had to be a mobile QB capable of accurately throwing on the run.

Dont forget we are rolling over a little over 7 million in cap space from last year.. so our cap is over 215 million

Sporttrac had us listed as having 42 mil the other day and now we are at 29 million

The easiest contract to free up space with is TJ watts… 24 million in salary… he has to get at least one million so if you convert the other 23 into a bonus you move just over 14 million into the next two seasons and open it up this year
