The other incompetent coordinator, this time the DC says Joey Porter Jr. Still not ready to start but he’s progressing and getting close.
Unbelievable! He cannot be any worse than PatPete who has been consistently beaten.
We’ve got a young talent languishing on the bench because the proven failure of a DC doesn’t think he’s ready.
Play Porter now and let him get playing time, he cannot be worse than PatPete. Move Patrick inside.
This team and this organization has become a laughingstock now.

It is because they struggle to coach players up. Especially rookies. They are slow to progress because of it, and as a result slow to get significant snaps.

I kinda think it's because they draft players that don't fit the scheme, then try to "teach them" how to fit the scheme instead of adapting the scheme to the players on hand.

Supposedly Wisconsin is close to their scheme and Benton still isn't starting. I dunno whatever it is it isn't good enough.

Yep… the issue is that JPJ is probably not ready for the complex zones… but Patpete can’t handle man press anymore … if both are deficient then let the young guy learn on the job

Gosh he certainly needs to be ready. I mean what if they get blown out?

Those soft zones playing 10 yards off the guy so he can make the catch easily, are rough to get down.

Tomlin and his incompetent coaching staff I think cannot coach up the younger players. Quality coaches really make a difference. I see a few young players here in Houston that are being coached up and making a difference. They just helped kick the hell out of the Steelers.

Since the Ravens want to run the ball so much, I can see not starting Porter against them. But they have to get him on the field more.

How long did troy take?

They need to give Fehoko a hat and decent snaps. See what this team can do with an actual run-stopping NT in the game. He may not get a huge push on passing downs but he will still command 1 or 2 guys to stop him. Give him a shot because what they'v done so far hasn't worked. Put Benton in the games as well. He has done well when in there recently.

DK Daily shot a couple days ago said something about JPJ’s tackling ability, Coach Tomlin doesn’t seem to trust that aspect of his game.

I translated that as Tomlin is trying to get JPJ to back off and keep receiver in front of him causing hard to defend the pass but getting the sure tackle.

CRAZY days

No offense but your translation isn't any kind of actual truth. I think JPJ will be very good but he is having to learn to cover without being so grabby down the field. He will get DPI with what I have seen so far. At least until he earns the star treatment. He has gotten lucky twice now.

Tomlin is waiting for December to unleash hell.

Exactly. Draft two long, lean athletic cornerbacks that are clearly made for man coverage and … let’s put them in whatever the hell our ****** zone coverage is.

Seattle didn't have a hard time getting their rookie (Witherspoon) adapted. He was all over the field the other night. Kind of tells me either we aren't drafting premium players or we're not doing a good job of getting them on the field.

Although he's injured now, you can also add Gonzalez of the cheats to that. He started from the jump and was playing very well.

Why does Tomlin draft players that can't tackle?

My translation is just fine, There is an aspect of the Tomlin system that is put into the players heads. It keeping everything in front of you. Then make the play / tackle ect. That is the scheme, and sometimes they do play man to man and gert beside each other ect.

This “D” has been broken down so many times and even the PAID analyst can’t give definate answers to what it is.

Ageree to disagree.

in week 4 we played the third most man coverage at 50% and the Dolphins lead the league at 56.8%. Even a man to man team plays a lot of zone. It is very much a league wide thing to play bend don't break football. Very few can play old school impose your will defense. Even those who are considered good defenses. The rules just don't allow for it. JPJ has to learn to play zone and learn to play smart with his aggressiveness in coverage to avoid drawing DPI as he gets more chances. I have no problem with the style of defense we play, if we could get points on offense and get a lead. This is a dangerous defense if playing with a lead. Assuming Austin doesn't turtle up and play prevent. We just need a lead.

I may be about to say/ask what has already been said/asked but I do have to admit I am being lazy right now and don't want to read everything right now. We know Tomlin and the Porter family have a somewhat close relationship. Is there a reasonable chance that Tomlin isn't throwing him into the grinder (quite frankly, where JPJ should be given our Wallace shenanigans) to "protect" him from looking like crap like everyone else in our crap system? And, if I am not saying it well, is he protecting him because he is JPJ? I mean, basically a first round pick not being ready to at least learn is suspect.
