I took my dad to training camp yesterday and was able to see some things.
The first offense under Trubisky has rhythm. It seemed fluid and efficient. He did well in 7 shots. Canada called the first play as a draw which Mitch walked in. The rest of the series he was in was pretty good. The defense had to pay attention to Trubisky.
Pickens is a freak. Pickett looked good. It was good to see him take the first team reps. Took the offense down inside the red zone where he stalled. I presume this is to prime him for taking over after Mitch’s couple of series against Jacksonville.
Harvin was punting the laces off the ball. This was during live practice. They were practicing him backed up against the goal line with Sims back for return. The ball appeared to have went 70 yards in the air before dropping on the 25 and rolling inside the 10. He was consistently booking them. Hopefully this continues come gametime.
It was discouraging to see Teague get injured on his first rushing drill. Hopefully it’s a minor ankle. Snell ran possessed, Dotson look ok. Mason was steady with no help from Vaughn who had the dropsies. Gunner is just shifty. He reminds me of Wes Welker with his fluidity in movement. Claypool was getting into rhythm and was going up for the ball. Didn’t notice him stop, dropping and rolling.

Nice summary, Shane. Gunner is likely to make the team based on return skills. If he adds some talent as a slot WR, he is basically a lock. I also heard from "sources" that Harvin is crushing the ball. We will see in Jacksonville.

Thanks for the write up Shane. Looking forward I think Claypoole and DJ can't do anything but improve with Pickens soon to be taking opposing defenses best cover corners. And Kenny Pickett with the 1's is great to hear I hope he does get plenty of PT vs. Jax

I forgot to mention Freiermuth. His presence in 7 shots was important. He made a difference in what the defense had to defend. Johnson’s drop- Mitch put the ball right on the money.

Nice observations. I hope you and your father enjoyed the experience.

Glad to hear that about Harvin. Kid had some rough personal issues last year. Hope he’s doing better as a person dealing with loss as well as a player.

Thanks for sharing you experience and insight write up. I hope you enjoyed the time with your Dad as well as hope he enjoyed the day as well.

I think Presley Harvn will make us happy. I like hearing Trubisky is taking command of that offense. Pickens is as advertised and I want him to be that beast WR we've been missing.
