Now there is still two open spots, but there is a very interesting trend this year...assuming that ranks stay fairly the same after the last week

of the top 10 defensive teams in the league this year, the top 3 are absolutely in, but there is no one else with a spot clinched... Carolina, at 10th best, may get a spot, other wise it goes to dead last in the league Atlanta. If Atlanta doesn't get in, the only team from the bottom 10 in the league to make it will be Arizona... every other team will be in that middle 12 zone of average defense

On the flip side of the top 10 offenses, only two are eliminated, NO and Philly (who deserved to be in over anyone in the AFC south IMO)... Atlanta still may make it, which would put 8 of 10 in the playoffs...
Cinci and Detroit are middle of the road guys at 15th and 18th respectively... Baltimore, San Diego, Carolina, KC and Houston are all in that middle 12 area... only Arizona is bottom 10 in offense (and d for that matter and will be in the playoffs

Goodell hasn't gotten rid of defense entirely, but it is less important than it used to be.

Based on yards? Similar ranks on scoring? I know AZ, was one of the top 5 defenses on points/game.

Goodell has worked very hard to give every advantage to the offenses. Look at 9 of the top 10 offenses you listed...you could argue they are the top QBs in the leauge (with the exception of Sanchez), then you throw in the elites at numbers 11 and 12, and it's clear that all you need in this fantasy football driven league is a franchise QB.

I read an article yesterday...can't remember where...about the incledibly low ratings on Sunday night football because it was a blowout, and how the league is seeing that happen more and more often. Well, duh...so much for parity. About a third of the teams are capable of putting up 40+ points on any given week, and the rest of the teams just have to hope it's not against them.

Gotta get back to a more balanced game. Yeah, high flying offenses might seem more exciting, but when all those points leads to blowout after blowout, you gotta wonder is it really better for the game?

Defense will win the SB again. If not the Seahawks who are heavily defense based. then the Pats who also have a very good defense will most likely win. Its just that if the Pats win everyone will forget about Revis and Browner and simply suck Brady's dick.
