have to admit collectively, they have produced this year. These guys have been coached up by Munchack and put in better positions by Haley to display what they were drafted/assembled for.....to protect the QB and lead the rushing attack. Ben is experiencing his best year as a QB for us with less sacks along with Bell damn near leading the league in rushing......I like it! Sure enough, they get called out individually on the board when they play like garbage but overall, the arrow is pointed up in this area for us. They are young and now understanding what they are capable of doing as a unit. First and second round draft picks look good here no matter how you slice it. Let's hope they can maintain the momentum tomorrow and through the playoffs. Decastro, Pouncey, Foster, Gilbert, Adams, Beachum....The Big Six.....Here we go!!!!!!

Highly productive offense, they must be doing something right...............................

Beachum has a short torso, but very long arms. Take a look at this for comparison:

Why does this matter? Because even though Beachum is 6'3", he plays like he is 6'6". He has the same wing span and leg length as much taller players. Further, his short torso helps him maintain good leverage against premium pass rushers.

Decastro is a very good guard - great at pulling and run blocking, good at pass protection. Pouncey is a rare and gifted center. He is strong, quick, has great balance and very good hand punch.

If the Steelers add a decent RT or LG, this line is ready to become elite.

What they have been doing is getting better as a group. One of the plays that showed up recently was on Tunch's Telestrator showed a very good stunt pick up by the line. Pouncy, Decastro, and Adams made some very good adjustments handing off players and stoning them. Adams for one stopped a defensive tackle in his tracks when he was passed to him by De Castro. Pouncey and DeCastro did the same thing with Blitzers and the play was very successful. I mention those three as Adams has been one of our most bitched about guys on the board but on that particular play all three of those guys looked great. They are simply winning more plays now than they have been and it looks like this is because they are playing better as a unit. The big variable is Munch. He is developing the talent he has instead of wasting it as his predecessors have been. Who knows he may turn this line into one of the great strengths of our team.

Adams has been one of our most bitched about guys on the board

If he wasn't such a high round draft pick it would be a different story but to celebrate one or two good plays a game doesn't IMO justify the money he is being paid vs the overall performance on the field.

It was evident in camp this year that he was struggling.

"Adams has had a rough row to hoe his first three years. From being a turnstile his rookie season, being stabbed before last season and having his ups and downs in the 2013 season. Mike Adams is a big man. He is on record as standing at 6 feet 7 inches tall and 323 pounds. That's a mountain of a man."

"Now meet Shamarko Thomas. Standing at 5 feet 9 inches tall and a whopping 217 pounds."

"In a live drill, one would think the much larger Adams would swallow the much smaller Thomas, but that wasn't the case in this 2014 training camp. In fact, the complete opposite happened. Thomas came on a blitz and absolutely leveled the much larger Adams to the ground."

Adams is now more than a week into his third training camp with the Steelers and it isn’t going much better than it has the past two seasons. In a pass protection drill against rookie outside linebacker Howard Jones, Adams was beaten on two straight plays and struggled the rest of the session. This has been fairly typical of his week to this point.

He has had a succession of negative reviews.

Chiefs...filled in for Speath as a run blocker.......success, not so much.

Saints....filled in for Gibert at RT......did a turnstile impression all game.

Falcons...filled in for Gilbert.....credited for the worst running play result of the game.

Bengals... "both Steelers left tackle Mike Adams and tight end David Paulson are significant liabilities as far as overall protection on this team is concerned."

I know I sound overly negative on this guy but Vader once, rightfully, pointed out that I needed to use more facts, less rhetoric.

OK, how 'bout this fact....Mike Adams sucks.

Overall the OL is much improved this year. Agree that the less Adams sees the field, the better. If this is his third year then his contract should be up and he can go on with his life's work, like flipping burgers or driving a bus.

Buffalo will pick him up, and then he'll figure it out

Adams likely has a 4 year contract. The game I was referring to was recent. Steelers depot is a blog and full of one guys opinion. It looks like Adams is getting better which is a good thing for the team. I believe he was also part of the line that put up good numbers in the running game this season. Do I think he is a star player nope, but he is doing better. Maybe Munch can keep getting these guys to be better.

we are not going to draft a RT we have Gilbert for 6 more years, we do need a more agile LG and one who is not heavy footed and can in pass protection push the NT/ 3T back rather then let him get by, which has been the problem with foster.

Foster is average.....the line as a unit are already top 10 in the league.
