For tge Steelers, devastatingly bad news… assuming that they don’t fritter away draft position with some obnoxious win streak like we know they are bound to do, he was maybe the only top five prospect worth drafting that high for the team… with him there were maybe 5 first round grade OT’s… now down to four, trading down gets dicier…

it also reduces the chances they end up with fellow psu teammate Joey porter jr, because you almost certainly need to get an OT and while you still can probably trade down and still be in range for him… there is less of a chance that any additional first round pick wont be high enough to get one of tge other stud OTs

I mentioned this in the draft thread, where I anticipate the Steelers picking I was leaning towards him being potentially the best available value. I think the kid is a future pro bowler. Really high on him.

Go figure the year the Steelers get a high draft pick and it's pretty weak in terms of elite prospects in the areas they need.
Yep they really should go the trade down route. As we know they are way off one top tier player away anyways. And at 5 thru say 10 there will be interested teams.

Good for him. It's refreshing to see a kid show some loyalty to his college and teammates. Although he is only 19 years old and a sophomore. I'd be really impressed if he stays 2 more years, but that's a longshot, of course.

I don't know anything about him but he has a great name...

Good name for an O-Lineman, great name for a fashion designer.😁

I don’t think its weak at OT at all… i think we could get a lt in the first and a RT in the third or fourth easily

Steelers will end up picking in the mid-teens and all the studs will be gone.

Studs aren’t limited to the top 15…. There is only a slightly higher chance of finding an elite player in the top ten over tge middle or late first round… its not as pronounced as one would think

The last "stud" the Steelers drafted (at #10) turned out more like a furring strip.

Who are the elite players at offensive tackle and cornerback? There are some good players and depth, but I guess I don't see the same type of elite talent I've seen in past years.

I think Paris can be that LT upgrade as he has solid athletic ability and might even be better as a run blocker. I think he was slightly out of position last year at G that LT is his true calling. He is the one first round T I would be happy with as things stand now.

I also think Porter will be a solid if not spectacular CB with a decent floor. I think he might be the safest CB pick...

This is Fashanu statement in November, which it should be. But lets see what he says come January and it looks like he's a lock for top 15 and likely a top 10. It is great if he stays but I just very much doubt it at this point.

I think he will… usually, if the guy is relying heavily on teammates coaches and parents, they try to get them to stay regardless… and that is kind of what it sounds like he is doing… conversely, agents and non teammate friends seem to push kids to leave even when staying is their best option … thats why getting honest opinions from nfl scouts and coaches is invaluable where they can be obtained

Joey Porter had an appendectomy a few weeks ago and hadn't played. He did play just a few snaps against Mich State because it was senior day and his last game at Beaver Stadium.

Fashanu is huge news for Penn State. True freshman Drew Shelton had been starting in his place. He has high upside but struggled as a freshman which is why PSU used so much 3 TE in the last few games. With Fashanu back the OL could really be special next year.

Transfer portal will be starting I believe on 12/5. QB Christian Veilleux arlready announced he's going in the portal. Not a surprise with Drew Allar set to start for the next few years.

Penn State needs to pull a deep threat WR from the portal. With Fashanu coming back and the run game and Allar, Penn State could be very attractive to a top end WR. A good situation where you can start immediately.

Thing is, he's only 19 and from what i've heard his family values education and that's a big reason why he's staying. Also, OL tends to be a more stable position, meaning you rarely see a guy who is highly ranked one year, fall off the next. That tends to happen with skill players more. Skill players also have shorter careers than OL so he has more time in that regard. It could be a risk but probably not a huge risk to return next year.
