My 20 year old self was getting drunk as a skunk watching my team take on the Rams in SB 14……back when they actually threw the ball down the field. Vinny even decided to throw to Jack. John Stallworth was a stud, and Terry zipped the old pigskin. Rams kept it close……for a while.
January 20 1980.

That Super Bowl made me on edge more than the previous 3.
The Rams were not an easy out.
Then came Bradshaw to Stallworth, what a relief!

The 31-19 score wasn’t the rout that the score would indicate.

Ah a rich mother ******. Bet you had inside plumbing also
Actually, you know Blitz, now that I think about it that would have been too early for me. I didn’t get a vcr till a year or two after I got married. So more like 89-90 I remember we paid around 450$ for a Fisher VCR. Which was a lot of money back then.
In those days you taped the kids with a camera and put it on your vcr tapes to be kept forever. Or until I taped a football game over it. 😡

I was 9 years old watching it in our basement with my dad out in bfe Spaces Corners. My dad was bitching every time Bradshaw threw an int. Which i believe he had 3 in that game.

That 4th quarter was magic. I remember getting a shirt in the summer that said "One For The Thumb In 81". It had all of the superbowl rings on it.

Man that turned into a long wait for that. Now I'm not a drinking man,but in 2005 at a Steelers Bar in Jacksonville, FL, I was standing on a table(after 7 shots of tequila) screaming when Willie Park ran 75 yards for a TD.

That game meant more to me than the 2008 win, just because it was such a long wait and what seemed like an impossible journey to achieve which included a superbowl loss and a **** ton of AFCCG losses.

Yeah, I wanted Cowher gone after the last few of those. Then they drafted Ben and got it done.

Good memories and some not so good ones.

I moved out west in 79, went to the game with a bunch of buddies, some who made the trip from the burgh and a couple friends who also moved out here. We all had tickets from family season ticket holders. All the activity in LA that week was spread out where the year before in Miami, all the bars in Fort Lauderdale were full of steeler fans, cowboy fans where in downtown Miami which was more expensive territory. Tickets for the Rams game were going face value at the rose bowl, they were 25 or 35 bucks I believe.

My buddy dropped a pint of CC in the stadium, he had one more, it was passed around so I was sober for both games. Took too long to go up and purchase a beer or take a leak so we remained in our seats.

Stallworth was something else, a guy who I played high school football with was a back up OG for the Steelers, Tom Dornbrook.

Both were great times but enjoyed the game in Miami more because of all the Steelers fans taking over Ft. Lauderdale and the bars stayed open until 5 AM if I “remember” correctly.
