With 2 games remaining-Matt Canada needs to say screw this and open up the offense to everything and anything in the playbook. Show us what you really have-not only for the offense, but see what your young quarterback can do with it.

Earlier this week, Mark Kaboly during an interview with Poni and Muller coyly hinted that quite possibly it was Tomlin putting the restraints on the offense to keep it vanilla and safe. Perhaps Canada has been taking marching orders from General Tomlin to keep himself employed. If I’m Matt Canada- I would be as aggressive as I can and call things we haven’t seen from him from Steelernation. His offense and team deserves it.

I know Tomlin prefers safe. You can tell from what he plays on defense. Speculation. And basically because anyone who wants another NFL job never speaks publicly..... never know.

It’s obvious he coaches in his fears when he says they shouldn’t play in their fears. The 2 attempted field goals with 4th and short last week when they were in no man’s land told me he didn’t trust his offense in those key situations. He needs to trust his offense and allow Kenny and the boys to play to win.

Wait ... wait ... we trust the media now? Or do we trust the media only when they say things we find agreeable?
Just asking because the last I checked, Kaboly wasn't employed by the Steelers and wouldn't have access to the playbook. Of course, he could have gotten his information off the record from Canaduh ... who would have no reason to fabricate anything, right?
I've seen and heard of players taking backhanded swipes at Canada and his playbook all season. If there was more there than what he's shown, you'd think those same players would be clamoring for him to open up the playbook rather than passive-aggressively indicating he should be gone.

I was wondering this for a while and when Kaboly mentioned it, it peaked my curiosity. It seems to me there’s control issue with Tomlin-see Dick LeBeau and Butler on the defensive side. What’s to say this isn’t the same issue on offense. We will never know until when Canada/Steelers part ways or other players or coaches part ways and decide to spill their guts about what went on.

I don’t wanna peg Canada as the second coming of Bill Walsh or Andy Reid. I want to see if it is Tomlin holding coaches back. Just my curiosity

To be fair, I think it's both. I think Tomlin has a particular way (conservative, almost "Martballish"). AND, I think Canada's playbook and playcalling are elementary, predictable and ... well, trash. Pair the two and you have a disaster.

Yup, and after he's gone Rooney needs to put on his big boy pants and along with Omar select a new OC outside the staff with minimal input from Tomlin, then tell Tomlin to leave him alone to run the new offense, tell Tomlin if he doesn't like it he can bounce

This is probably wishful thinking, but more likely than Tomlins firing
