Police have borrowed a $180,000 'blimp in a box' in a desperate bid to track down a suspected cop-killer who has been on the run in dense woodland in the Pocono Mountains for nearly seven weeks.

The device, comprising a tethered Mylar helium balloon fitted with cameras and heat sensors, was donated to the manhunt for 31-year-old Eric Frein by the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Similarly to a weather balloon, the unmanned contraption can hover silently in the air for up to three days at a time, while capturing video of vast areas of the northeastern Pennsylvania region.

Can't they just scour the place with infrared cameras on drones. Or better yet, go low tech....tracking dogs.
 
How easy would it be to disable it with a bullet?

Rumor is that the trooper was handcuffing his wife to the bed post and interrogating her vagina. Just a rumor at this point.

I don't think this nut job is anywhere near Pennsylvania. He left a trail of diapers and diaries in one direction and headed the other way. I hope I'm wrong and they find him before a hunter stumbles upon him. The longer this goes on, his mental abilities will begin to falter.
 
Thankfully, Pennsylvania law enforcement was able to return the original, mistaken order and get a full refund. At first, law enforcement had received this:

I'm not paranoid I'm concerned. I am not anti-government I am for small government. I am certified sane by an Army head shrinker.

Yeah. Real tough guy survivalist mountain man. Hiding in an abandoned airport hangar. Dropped to his knees and surrendered. I'd have preferred he came out on a coroner's stretcher but I'll take it.

On the plus side his face looks like there was some struggle. And (delicious irony) they cuffed him with the slain trooper's cuffs and transported him in his car.
