any reason 41 played only a few snaps yesterday? He has been playing well all year long. I know Queen and Roberts also are playing well but it seems like Peytons speed would have been needed yesterday as well as next week.

They probably figured Ertz would be a mismatch or were worried about him on the run game if I had to wager a guess.

He’s the lightest looking 242 pound LBer I’ve seen in some time. Couldn’t believe that’s what he’s listed as. Swear he looks 225-230 when he’s trying to defense the run. I love the pick but his run D is less than desirable to say the least.

Roberts on the other hand, daaaaammmmnnnn
Dude reminds me of Earl Holmes hitting anything that moves

Maybe they are just having a hard time justifying keeping him off the field?

I would think with run heavy teams we will see less of him until he develops a little better in that area.

The Steelers were playing a really good running QB yesterday and they made the rookie have his worst game. Probably a lot to ask a rookie LB to play that style to neutralize such a playmaker. He probably won't play much next week either.

We were very very soft in the middle this game. Was it the players on the field or the play calling?

That is kinda where I was going with thread. WR and ends wide open where 41 usually is

Imagine Wilson has not been playing the run well. Then you throw him in there against King Henry.....
I guess they figured they have to pick their poison against both Washington and the Ravens

We weren't stopping the run yesterday for the most part with who we had in there as it was......

They decided that Danials was going to have to beat them with out his legs (rushing). STEELERS did a good job with the game plan and it worked out well for them.

Thank You SIR.

yeah i cant put my finger on it,, but i imagine it goes with the problem of running our 2 down linemen pkg, vs 3 man run stopping defense.

In my mind its a crap shoot to guessing it right. I could be WAYYYYYYYYY offf. But this is what comes to my mind. That 2 DL set up isnt good vs run...

Really? This is an example of where perception can sometimes not match reality. The box score says that the Steelers defense held Washington to a total of 60 yards rushing. So, the guys we had in there actually did stop the run yesterday.

I don't know if Wilson's play would have resulted with a lose for us if he had more snaps. Our run D was very suspect yesterday at times. Would/could it have been worse with Wilson playing more snaps? In the end we won by mere inches. A win is a win though. Bring on the Ravens now!!!!!

Weird. I just checked the box score and saw the same thing. Seems at times we got gashed. Danials at times walked all over us. We couldn't stop their O. Looking at the stats though I wouldn't have thought we were down 10 in the 2nd half. That is the funny thing about stats. They don't tell the entire story at times. Washington seemed to play at the end not to lose the game at one point. In the end the refs gave us a spot of inches that gave is the win. I believe it was the right call. We came out with a tough gritty win on the road against a good Washington team. Props to everyone....coaches and players. We still can clean a bunch up in a lot of areas though.

Agreed. My point was simply that if they believe Wilson is not playing the run correctly, why would they put him out there against teams that run the ball well? The guys that they had out there yesterday held a team that has been pretty good at running the ball to a total of 60 yards. Not their fault that the head coach had a brain fart that practically gave the Commanders 7 points.

Because our pass defense sucks over the middle. Give and take type of thing. We got killed over the middle all game. We were lucky they came up an inch short on their last pass on fourth down. Refs very easily could have spotted the ball a few inches the other way. Hey. We won. Props.

I actually would have preferred Wilson against a team heavy in the pass. But against the rats yeah he can be Mr. Limited.

Still high on Wilson’s future, he will clean up his deficiencies. For me just a question of when not if.

When you have 33% less interior DL you are always soft in the middle, it allows BOTH DL to be doubled and move them to create creases.

Wilson is a rookie, sitting behind 2 quality players is not a bad thing. He is learning and will be better with more practice and time in the weight room. He is the best prospect in years, hopefully piss poor tackling form doesn’t end his career like the last good one

Seemed like they were playing contain with OLBs and not getting too far up field
Think the idea was to limit Daniels and make him pass (the Lamar strategy)

They were soft in the middle, lacked pass rush and were also pretty crappy on coverage.

Think it was a combo of play calling/strategy AND the players on the field.

We were lucky to escape with a win, we were due for one of those tho.

Yeah they were gashing us for 60 yards on 22 carries. Pathetic. Fire Tomlin.
