Pennsylvania will soon become the first state to legalize medical marijuana through the legislature.

The Pennsylvania House on Wednesday made a final vote in favor of a medical marijuana bill introduced in 2014. Gov. Tom Wolf said he will sign the bill on Sunday, the AP reports.

The state will have the distinction of being the first to legalize medical marijuana through legislation rather than a voter-approved ballot initiative.

Ohio lawmakers hope to quickly follow suit and legalize medical marijuana before voters can decide on an initiative slated for the November election, according to the AP report.

Pennsylvania launches 24th US medical marijuana program

Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf signed the bill into law Sunday afternoon surrounded by a jubilant crowd of supporters at the Capitol building in Harrisburg.

“Marijuana is medicine and it’s coming to Pennsylvania,” said Democratic Sen. Daylin Leach, the bill’s co-sponsor.

The bill sets standards for tracking plants, certifying physicians and licensing growers, dispensaries and physicians. Patients could take marijuana in pill, oil, vapor, ointment or liquid form, but would not be able to legally obtain marijuana to smoke or grow.

Something I agree with our Libtard Democrat Governor on. I say legalize all the **** because it'll get him that extra tax revenue he wants.

Pennsylvania isn't sufficiently green with envy of other states getting rich to completely legalize it. I suspect it'll eventually go much like the casinos did.

I bet it'll be a billion dollar business in itself - and next step will be legalization. So how do you set up to be a grower/distributor?

What's next for medical marijuana in Pa.?

Growers and processors will have to go through rigorous steps of establishing a new business through the state. Additionally, doctors will have to get the education they need to recommend the drug.

A legal medical marijuana program in the state would establish no more than 25 growers/processors and 50 dispensaries. Each dispensary can have up to three locations.

These businesses will be overseen by a 15-member Medical Marijuana Advisory Board, which will regulate the drug like the state's Liquor Control Board does with alcohol. The program will be overseen by the state's Department of Health, which would also launch a medical marijuana research program.

Liquid marijuana? I want to add it to vodka on the rocks. That would be a hell of a drink.

Canada to introduce legislation in 2017 to legalize sale of marijuana

OTTAWA — The Canadian government announced Wednesday that it will introduce legislation next year to decriminalize and legalize the sale of marijuana, making Canada the first G7 country to permit widespread use of the substance.

The announcement was made by Canada’s health minister, Jane Philpott, at a U.N. drug conference in New York. It follows through on a promise made during Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s successful election campaign last fall.

Growers/distributors usually go throug a lengthy process. License to grow, distribute etc^^^ As stated above. Another thing to consider you got to meet safety prototcol, green house standards, state regulations, if children are present etc. Similar to how businesses with a liquor license goes through

They'll probably legalize it completely within 7-10 years but they are missing a golden opportunity to do it early and to take the charge vs all the bordering states. Do this to get some tax revenue and then save some revenue by not jailing people for minor drug offenses.
