I'm undecided if I am in favor of him, but at least the guy's had some success in other places, unlike CanaDUH. so there is that. At least his concepts are not considered college or high school-level in complexity. It remains to be seen how "Tomlinated" his offensive calls would become. I hope to hell Art has told Shades to knock off his interference with the offense.

If Tomlin does interfere, get ready for a few more years of suck.

This guy has an interesting resume. I would love to see what he can do.

He would be good choice.
Kingsbury worked with Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, and the little guy in Arizona Kyler Murray.
Also, a big time believer in developing a power running game. That should be music to Art II ear.
I also read yesterday that Mike Munchack wants to get back into coaching.
Said he’d like to coach with Vrabel if he gets a HC. Job. Wonder if Munch would consider coming back here?

I just don't know anymore. Essentially, he's another NCAA college OC who was a lousy college Head Coach, promoted into the NFL directly as a Head Coach and turned out to be a lousy one there as well. The BIG question is if his Offensive system can work in the NFL?

Good points Cat! I read that his offenses in Arizona finished pretty much in the middle for four seasons.
Granted, he was the HC but he obviously had a heavy hand in their offense.
I’m still hoping for the Niners Klint Kubiak. I can hope!

I think Shades is a barrier to having Munch back. I think Munch's leadership threatened Shades, who as a megalomaniac, can't stand real leadership on the team. It threatens him.

Greg, if that’s the case then **** Tomlin!

The middle sounds a lot better than 27th as we were this year. I argued that we needed to increase our PPG a lot compared to 2022 of 18.3 and that I doubted - even after Shades promised an improvement in PPG in the offseason - that we had done nearly enough to improve it by much. I thought we would only improve by a few PPG. Well, little did I know that Shades was such a f--k up that we would actually decline in PPG to only putting up 17.9 PPG in 2023. We actually DROPPED. Way to go Tomlin, nice management there buddy.

Who thought we would actually decrease in PPG coming off 18 PPG? It was only Shades' pigheaded traits that put us in that position. Keeping CanaDUH after a record-dismal 2022 was pure genius on he and Art's part. Way to go, way to ruin an entire 3 seasons keeping a bum at OC. Real genius there, fellas. I hope Art found comfort and relaxation in his keeping an assistant coach, as he has expressed the difficulty of switching them in the past. "You have to move entire families in, not just the coach."

I agree, but other than Dick LeBeau (who was already here by the time Shades showed up) Munch was the only "leader type" assistant coach Shades has had. Everyone else on staff is a "yes man" type of coach and the results show. You must only agree with the great Mike Tomlin.

I definitely think that Kingsbury is an improvement over what we have or had with Canada.
I think he would do a good job here IF Tomlin keeps out of the play calling.
I actually think Zac Robinson from the Rams would do well here but again, they have to keep Tomlin out of the offense.

I’m a huge Munch fan! I think the OL players loved and respected him.
Munch was a great OL at Penn State and the Houston Oilers/Tenn. Titans and HOF so the players knew that Munch walked the walk and totally respected him.
He made all our OL better players and yes Shades most likely didn’t like the threat.

Okay, I have a question not directed at Greg necessarily, but why do I do keep reading about this moving bullshit? Why is it so difficult to move a new coach or coaches and their families? Don't other teams do this? Don't a lot of regular people move? Or are these coaches and families so special they struggle with moving? Or, is that Art making bullshit excuses?

I mean seriously, pay a fugging moving company to move their **** and have someone help them find a nice house. How hard is that? I don't understand this monumental roadblock. We're not in horse and buggy days. My baby sister moved her own *** and drove the largest Ryder truck available by herself, and she'd never driven anything like that ever. She also found her very nice house with the help of a realtor.

Im pretty sure its just imaginary nonsense from the "Rooneys are cheap" narrative

Maybe, but I seem to recall a podcast or something or someone that pretty much said the same thing - it wasn't just us on this site. Or maybe it was Tomlin himself that said it....I can't remember but it's not the first time I've heard it.

If we're going with what is said on podcasts as evidence of how things run, Ramon Foster said on his podcast today that Tomlin does not micromanage the offense. Who knows for sure outside of those in the building though?
Now, keeping Canada was a very stupid move. Not having someone on staff with the ability to be the sole OC after they fired Canada ... Also stupid.

I have the same worry with Kliff. He hasn't been strictly an OC since 2012. That's a long time as a HC to take a step back. Some can, just not everyone.

You'd have to ask Art, he's the one who said it. And I'm sure they pay people to do all you are suggesting, but being a "family team" and all, it must weigh on Art to do his part of the song and dance that seems so bothersome.

Rooney doesn't like all the extra activity involved in bringing in out of towners. That's why we see him looking for people that live on the north side or went to North Catholic high school.

Im not a fan of Kingsbury. He got his hand picked QB in Murray who ran the same offense in college and it didn't really work out. In 2020 they had fitzgerald, hopkins, and kirk as WRs. 2021 they were 11th in points and went 11-6. The following year they really fell apart, went 4-13 and ranked 21st in points. Murray only played in 11 games that year, not sure if it was benching or injury.

I'm pretty sure Murray was hurt, he did start in 11 games. It turns out he wasn't the Superman they thought when they drafted him; I think he's just too diminutive. He had lightening quick feet but is too easy to bring down if you get in range; he's like a little fast kid out there.
