See I figured Pickett was going to be a better and more mobile version of ODonnell when we drafted him… his late game heroics are a pleasant surprise.. that I didn’t expect from him and is encouraging for his actual upside…
… unfortunately that upside might not be found here if we keep running this absurd O system…
Funny I thought of Canada the second I saw the article. That is how bad he is. I immediately thought of how they would have performed with Canada as their OC.That’s the thing, it’s hard to compare anyone who is playing in this ****-hole offense. O’Canada is going backwards, because if you aren’t moving forward, there is no other direction than backwards.
BEN ROETHLISBERGER was a winner and Hard-Nose player. Having coach cool shades waste several years of his career just plain out sucked. Cowher would have gotten three more SBs with and for BR7, possibly 4.
Salute the nation
I think there is very few pro Kenny fans. You have a group that has given up on him (group A), a group that is waiting and seeing how he develops, but knows he needs to improve. They know he is part of the problem right now but also knows he is just starting out of the gates. (Group B)Can’t wait til we’re blaming some new offensive coordinator next year for why Kenny still looks so damn pedestrian-and I’d be remiss if I didn’t say “yes, we all know Canada sucks” but he’s just one part of this mediocrity equation
New scapegoat goat in place and all the KP nut huggers can proclaim how tough he is, and has it, learning a new system…these narratives almost write themselves.
It’ll be great watching him and Tomlin go 8-8-1 or 9-8 again!!! Two mediocre dudes being mediocre together. It’s a freakin mediocre Oreo cookie-that’s right no creamy middle on that bad boy.
And with Mitch looked in as a 2, nobody to even challenge for the job as the mediocrity just finds a new year/chapter to roll into
Kenny will get every opportunity possibleI think there is very few pro Kenny fans. I think that group A is impatient for group B to join them.
No reason for group B to be premature on their final decision. Kenny will be given an opportunity to improve beyond this season.
Ok got your written down for group C. I hear that comes with an inflatable Canada garden ornament.Kenny will get every opportunity possible
That we know
Hell how long did they keep throwing Jarvis out there?
I guess I’m group C haha
Haven’t given up on Kenny but no dang way I’m holding my breath on him getting good either…the Complacent group
I like the Najee-Warren idea. He is the more explosive back makes perfectly good sense. Especially with teams loading the box.I read that article yesterday and thought it to put things more into perspective.
It’s no secret I’m a big Kenny supporter (avatar) and I’m trying hard here to not sound bias.
Kenny’s 17 game body of work with this horrible OC and bad schemes and not so good OL really is not that bad.
Of course compared to Ben it pails in comparison and not to take anything away from a young Ben, but he was put into a far superior situation that Kenny. Again, Ben was a special talent no doubt but I think Kenny has to deal with so much more than Ben had to.
I think it starts with the OL and this team first needs a stud center not a backup. The guards I think are fine, the LT rookie Broderick Jones will be a stud but he’s going to grow into it. The RT Chuks stinks. Is Dan Moore the answer, idk.
All this has Kenny not stepping up and trusting his protection.
The running game just not good enough but Ray Fittapaldi spelling had a good suggestion.Start Warren early in the games since he would most likely help the passing game. Get a lead and bring Najee in second half to pound the ball and wear the defense down. Makes good sense!
The OC is NOT getting changed this year so Kenny is stuck with him. Canada MUST get the TEs involved in the passing game and stop ignoring Muuuth and Washington.
Now that DJ is back should free up Pickens. STOP bunching the receivers up and spread these guys out. Guess what Canada, Cal Austin can do more than run deep. Try some slants, WR screens, and let him get his YAC.
Kenny can succeed if he’s not set up to fail. Give him opportunities to succeed.
One last note: The two so called superstars Purdy and Hurts imo are system QBs. You put those two here I don’t think they are so special. Hurts more athletic but he wouldn’t light it up with his passing, not in this offense. Purdy would get killed in this offense.
That’ll scare a brother into group A or BOk got your written down for group C. I hear that comes with an inflatable Canada garden ornament.![]()
Ben definitely had big shoes to fill. I think the shoes shrank a little after the elbow injury and his legs went. His rookie season was pretty magical. Like 15 straight wins and 4 GW drives. Hard to ever come in and do something like that again in the NFL.Yeah, that was a good read and sets a more reasonable light on young Kenny. No matter who follows Ben, nobody approaches that rookie record. And I doubt but a very few will ever eclipse Ben overall. Without overt cheating.. As time passes Ben will look even better in hindsight. Tough act to follow.
An ESPN commentary on the woes of Bryce Young noted the inauspicious starts of some household names.... "Troy Aikman started 0-11 for the Dallas Cowboys, Jared Goff 0-7 for the Los Angeles Rams, Eli Manning 0-6 for the New York Giants, Tim Couch 0-6 for the Cleveland Browns, Alex Smith 0-5 for San Francisco 49ers, Trevor Lawrence 0-5 for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Vinny Testaverde 0-5 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers."
Kenny was what, 10-5 in his rookie campaign and showed signs of becoming a serviceable QB - far eclipsing the aforementioned household names.
He has skills. He has a decent supporting cast. They rose up last year and showed they can play despite the tools that manage them. He's a hard enough worker that he could develop, again, despite the tools. Let him develop.
Another bit of perspective - In 76, Kruczek went 6-0 filling in for Bradshaw. That happened during the best sting of games ever registered by a defense. 9 wins in 9 games. Yeah, others have done that including the 04 Steelers. But in those 9 games in 76, the opposition scored 28 points. And 5 were shutouts including a 3 in a row and a 2 in a row. That is the story of Kruczek's 6-0 start.
And another bit of perspective - the 2000 rats' D was good - very good. 3 shutouts over 20 games good. Nobody was the 76 Steelers. And nobody ever will be.

Kenny was 7-5 and one of those win Mitch game in the game in the 3rd and went 9/12 144 yards and a td after KP wasing the bed. He did flash a few times and because of those I am holding out hope. He has flashed a little more this year. Still far from a finished product but can't say he is a bust either.
Yeah, '76 Steelers defense has to be the best ever. I am sure I am a little bias but if Bradshaw stays healthy I don't see why they wouldn't have threepeated.
I think he skipped from Terry all the way to Ben.Who’s BIG shoes did BEN have to fill???? We didn’t have decent QB-ing till BEN showed up. Until then it was mediocre at best. Wait, Kordell was relevant and better than most think, but definitely easily filled shoes………
Salute the nation

I don't think we will ever see a QB win super bowls like Bradshaw and Brady did. Mahomes has a shot to be a 4x super bowl winner but as you can see this year they have scraped by a few wins of team like the Jets, Vikings and Donkeys. They might be the team to beat in the AFC but imo they aren't an imposing team to beat at this point. I think once they start playing good teams their armor chinks.Ben filled Terry's shoes.
Our heroes made it to the 76 AFCCG sans #32 and #20.. Too much to overcome in Oakland. Which gave us the famous Lambert quip -'ah hell, give us a 6-pack and we'll play em again'. He meant each. They would have. And they might have won. #32 and #20 would have had time to heal and they would have made a mess of the Vikings again.
I lived in SF at the time. Hated raider fans going on preventing a Steeler 3peat. Sans #32 and #20. I hated that team. Loaded with players though.
