By Matt Papiernik,*@Matt_Papiernik*on Twitter SteelerNation.com   Just like that, the NFL offseason is among us. From mock drafts, to the Pittsburgh Steelers, to every free agent quarterback being rumored to be on their way to the Steelers, it is a lovely time of year. The Resse’s Senior Bowl is always something to keep an eye […]

hopefully something a little more exciting..

If he lasts till the third, I wouldn't be interested in him. He is no better than Rudolph then. I have him rated higher though.

I believe he is a much better prospect coming out of college than Rudy...

Stronger arm, better at play action, more elusive/mobile, stronger arm.....

I think the kid is getting bad advice to stay away from this game..

First off I'm not a big draft nik, I've just been very lucky with Steelers selections. I have not done enough research to have an opinion. From what I've read he is not a 1. All I know.

And frankly I'd prefer to move on from Ben. I've made that well known. But if he comes back I don't see anyway you can go QB. Bringing him back without positional help would just be insane with the FA losses they will have.

His concerns are documented so that wouldn't change if he fell. That is what you do draft value. There is some talent there so you roll the dice and see if it blossoms. Better to try and fail than not try at all. As the potential is there to be able to beat out Rudy. I would take on that risk in 3. But not before then. As 1 and 2 I think is Oline and RB.

I think Trask and Haskins have the same exact skillset. But that's just me...

I just think at 3 you are adding Rudolph 1.2. And I'm not convinced Rudolph couldn't start in this league. I look at it like this. Ben comes back, zero point in drafting QB if you can get Rudolph's name on a short term contract beyond 2021. You've remortgaged AGAIN and need to give him maximum tools. Ben leaves, I still don't take a QB. I find out what I got and fall to the bottom if its the ***** and get a more sure prospect then you can get at 1.24. now if they say loved Trask or someone else ,it is what it is. But only if I thought in my mind, that guy is a top 15 pick.

There is some similarities sure. Haskins had that beautiful year but was somewhat of a one year wonder. Similar that neither is considered a mobile QB. Trask is a taller prospect not that that means much of anything. Haskins will have to show dedication that is what makes him a bigger question mark. I think there is some obvious talent there. So do the Steelers as they wouldn't have given him a look otherwise. Some might call me crazy but if Haskins applies himself he could shoot up to the number 2 spot. He just will have to forget his past struggles and ball out.

Look at it this way if Ben goes down you have two QBs in the equation. And you aren't paying out a ton of money unless one emerges. I think Trask would show to have the stronger arm btw. For me I just would rather have capable depth. Right now they have Rudy and nothing unless Haskins shows he is ready to buckle down.

And then you will **** around figuring out if either can play in 2022 and maybe 2023.

You have that with Rudy already. Knowing the Steelers they would/will take that approach with Rudy. Even better to have him some competition. Otherwise you are stuck with him in-season without worthwhile alternatives.

I think your final comment is NOT crazy - the kid threw 50 TD's in a season - that wasn't a fluke...

If Coach Canada can figure out how to use him - we might be A OK...

Player Bio
Name: Chatarius Atwell

Jersey: #1

Position: Wide Receiver

School: Louisville

Class: Junior

Height: 5’9”

Weight: 165 lbs

Hands (3.25/10)
Atwell is the primary target of the Louisville offense. His reception totals may appear lackluster for a primary target (four receptions per game in 2020); however, his quarterback, Malik Cunningham, completes less than 20 passes a game, leaving Atwell with 20 percent of the team’s receptions. Due to his athletic traits, along with the unique scheme at Louisville, Atwell is placed in a variety of roles, each commanding a different section of the field, each requiring a different receiving skillset. Whether he is targeted 30 yards downfield or two yards in the backfield, his hands are required to perform to their peak efficiency.

He has dealt with drops throughout his career, even letting the ball fly straight through his hands. That is a red flag that most likely stems from his slight frame being at risk of injury from opposing defenders, possibly causing him to pay more attention to the field than to the ball. Atwell has to spend plenty of time on the Jugs machine before the combine to improve his draft stock.

One more note: Atwell tends to fumble the ball. In the three full games watched, he either fumbled or dropped the ball over five times. That may not sound like a lot, but check how many receptions he gets a game. That is a scary rate. Teams are taking a long shot on Atwell staying in the NFL with the hands he possesses today.

Contested Catch (2.25/10)
It does not take an expert scout to realize the fact that Atwell is simply useless in contested catch situations at his size. His lack of catching ability combined with his toothpick frame combine for arguably the worst contested catching frame in the entire draft. If any quarterback looks for Atwell to win a one-on-one jump ball against a corner weighing 20 or more pounds than him, that quarterback needs to get sent to the bench immediately. In short, Atwell needs to be targeted downfield due to separation, not desperation. If you want the tape to show his uselessness in these situations, look no further than Syracuse (2020) in the first quarter.

we better stop draft him just use Jhonson and ebron for those short passes.

How the heck is Najee Harris not on the watch list???

Pay attention to what they are saying about Mac Jones, as I pretty much said it before they did. Color us lucky if we get a chance to pick him. Harris should be on our list.
