Steelernation, looks like we have an all around football player on offense that could be a serious weapon. Looking forward to seeing how things work out for this kid.
I’ve been suggesting they try him in a “Slash” type role, since they signed him. Starting to look like just maybe it could work into that at some point. Worse case, you get to keep a 4th QB, while you try and figure out what to do next year.Steelernation, looks like we have an all around football player on offense that could be a serious weapon. I dont think Neon Deon would let him play here... probably still mad about Dan Sr's Circus comments back in the 90'sI’ve been suggesting they try him in a “Slash” type role, since they signed him. If they keep him on the 53 man list, I can see them going into next year with Allen and Plumlee @ QB. That means that you are again looking for a starting QB. I would love to be wrong, but I’m not sure Fields or Wilson will be the answer.
It almost looks to me like they are thinking that either Fields or Wilson will work out, or suck bad enough to be in a position to get Sanders in 25. If there has EVER BEEN a QB with the “pedigree” Tomlin would go all in for, it would be Sanders. That is a Mike Tomlin wet dream.
That is a completely different discussion. My statement was about what Mike Tomlin would want.I dont think Neon Deon would let him play here... probably still mad about Dan Sr's Circus comments back in the 90's
Let's not forget the other "athletic experiment" with QB Mark Malone: blown knee. They tried him at WR yesterday and he started the preseason game as a kick returner. If he shows enough versatility I could see him eventually getting a hat with an injury. Likely starts off the season on the PS but if he can show the ability to be a backup 3rd string QB and returner with the ability to go in on 4 or 5 receiver sets I could see him having value one day. Taysom Hill kind of swiss army knife.

I wouldn't go as far as the comparison to Taysom; but...They tried him at WR yesterday and he started the preseason game as a kick returner. I think Hill is a decent comparison of what Plumlee’s potential would be. Similar size and athleticism. Hill spent his rookie season on the practice squad and that’s probably where Plumlee sits. How he develops while there is anyone’s guess but he definitely has the athleticism to do what Hill has done.I wouldn't go as far as the comparison to Taysom; but...
IMO, he doesn't make it because "we" already have skill players that do what he can do already. He just does multiple things, averagely...
I don’t see The him being groomed to be the starter like Malone or Stewart for that matter. I think just a guy that might fill several roles and is a depth piece. If you could have a 5th wr be your starting returner and still be your backup QB it’s an advantage when you have injuries and don’t want to release a player for a few weeks to risk signing elsewhere. That’s the big advantage of a guy like him.Let's not forget the other "athletic experiment" with QB Mark Malone: blown knee.
And at the end of the day, it's all meaningless in terms of our W-L column and the # of pays he will contribute to.I don’t see The him being groomed to be the starter like Malone or Stewart for that matter. I would be surprised if he makes it. Really hasn’t shined IMO…I haven't followed Plumlee a whole lot, but if he is starting to change positions this late into camp, probably not a great chance he'll make the roster.
Same. This reminds me of throwing Green at FB last season, one last ditch effort to see if he could be productive for this team. They signed Patterson to return kicks. The WR depth is awful and they really can't afford to keep an experiment at the bottom of the depth chart. He also probably offers nothing as a professional QB.I would be surprised if he makes it. Really hasn’t shined IMO…
