I am glad the team isn't just rolling with Rudy. Not that both QBs on the roster won't be given a chance. They will. But we can be assured that by hook or crook there will be competition for the start.

From everything I read I have the feeling the GM will come from the outside. Interesting that they want to stay ahead of the curve with the current state of the NFL. Perhaps they will be taking new approaches which could very well help the team grow past what they have been showing.

He touched on free agency and more money available to them than in seasons past. The vibe I got was they would be active partipants.

Like what I am hearing....

I personally would like to see the GM come from outside. I’m sure Hunt and Kahn are great guys but I really do think we could use a different approach and both of those guys have been under Colbert for a long time. Also, if Kahn was really GM worthy then he would have gotten a job by now with all the interviews. I think he’s really good at what he does and that’s manage the cap and financial side of it. But, with that being said I love that the Steelers are doing everything they can to interview as many people as possible considering this is a team that this doesn’t come around a lot and make sure they get the right guy in place. This is one of the key positions where you don’t want any turnover if possible.

Also, Colbert is top notch and one of the best in the business. He will be sorely missed. In a world where character doesn’t seem to mean much he has it in abundance. It’s also a reason why he can subjectively look at the situation and know his time is up but still want to help be a part of the process because his love and loyalty to the Rooney and the team. It should be normal for the person that is replacing you to be part of the process of finding them. It’s not normal to be kept in the secret and out the door the minute the person is hired from you. It’s times like these that honestly I’m so proud to be called a Steelers fan.

I don't get the GM coming after the draft. I think it's an opportunity to maybe not let him make the decisions but have input.

Well Colbert’s scouting team has been working since last spring and performed 90% of evaluations. All that is left is the Combine and Pro-days. So Kevin has all the data at his disposal. I doubt, anyone interviewed other than the internals has the amount of info Kevin has.
