We don’t need to rehash all of the bad we’ve seen from the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line this season. Let’s just leave it at the fact that it’s been bad across the board.
They could potentially get some help with Zach Banner returning in the next few weeks to take his starting spot at right tackle. But that won’t help the Steelers issues on the inside of the line.
Most would have thought that rookie center Kendrick Green would be the one who would benefit the most by taking a seat, but that apparently isn’t what the coaching staff is thinking.
So according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette’s Gerry Dulac the Steelers would remove Kevin Dotson from the starting lineup and replace him with veteran BJ Finney.
Everyone, and I mean everyone was beating the drum last season for Dotson to stay in the starting lineup due to his strong performance when he replaced Matt Feiler for a stretch last season. He was solid. But for as solid as he was last season he’s been just as bad this year.
During training camp there were reports that the team was upset with Dotson’s conditioning and off season preparations. With everything we’ve been able to see so far this season we can see why they were upset.
Regardless, even if they bench Dotson the upgrade to Finney won’t be much if at any at all. Finney doesn’t seem to be the player he was in 2019 when he left the team and signed with Seattle.
Let’s just hope they all put together a strong performance in the right direction this week against the Packers.

How about this: Per the venerable @gerrydulac in his KDKA-TV Steelers report tonight. IF a change gets made on the Steelers offensive line, Kevin Dotson would come out of the lineup for BJ Finney. Kendrick Green will remain at center.
Wow.
