We don’t need to rehash all of the bad we’ve seen from the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line this season. Let’s just leave it at the fact that it’s been bad across the board.

They could potentially get some help with Zach Banner returning in the next few weeks to take his starting spot at right tackle. But that won’t help the Steelers issues on the inside of the line.

Most would have thought that rookie center Kendrick Green would be the one who would benefit the most by taking a seat, but that apparently isn’t what the coaching staff is thinking.

How about this: Per the venerable @gerrydulac in his KDKA-TV Steelers report tonight. IF a change gets made on the Steelers offensive line, Kevin Dotson would come out of the lineup for BJ Finney. Kendrick Green will remain at center.

Wow.

So according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette’s Gerry Dulac the Steelers would remove Kevin Dotson from the starting lineup and replace him with veteran BJ Finney.

Everyone, and I mean everyone was beating the drum last season for Dotson to stay in the starting lineup due to his strong performance when he replaced Matt Feiler for a stretch last season. He was solid. But for as solid as he was last season he’s been just as bad this year.

During training camp there were reports that the team was upset with Dotson’s conditioning and off season preparations. With everything we’ve been able to see so far this season we can see why they were upset.

Regardless, even if they bench Dotson the upgrade to Finney won’t be much if at any at all. Finney doesn’t seem to be the player he was in 2019 when he left the team and signed with Seattle.

Let’s just hope they all put together a strong performance in the right direction this week against the Packers.

Interdasting.

thanks for the article Justin.!

WoW, we have no answers. Finney was let go for a reason and Seattle didn't keep him....... why ? NOW we are going to start him. Maybe he steps up and surfices to be a good move. Maybe he does just enmough to help Dan Moore be better. Good luck if this transpires.

I believe I saw a video of Green squatting 800 pounds, you'd think that lower body and core strength would be top notch.

I guess his technique has to catch up to his ability. He's had all of 3 games at center.

The line thus far has been a massive disappointment. It's really hard to get that smashmouth mentality back with a bunch of cupcakes.

He's a rookie at one of the most important positions on the football field and there is a reason was taken in the 3rd round, he's a developmental Center. He has the physical tools, no doubt, but he needs experience and reps. He'll be a solid Center for the Steelers in years to come but this team needs Pouncey back if they want to sniff the post season. I can image Ben has been calling and begging him to come out of retirement. Hell, as close as they were, you'd think Pouncey couldn't stand watching Ben get his *** kicked on almost every play.

Pouncey has lost a ton of weight since retiring. He's probably down to 250lbs or less.

This would surprise me. I don't think Dotson is the weak link on the line but if he can only play one position and there is someone better, then he has to sit. This goes for any of the positions.

Someone buy that man a cheesburger! lol. I saw Joe Thomas recently and he's almost unrecognizable he is so thin.

Just an opinion. Tomlin going with trial by fire, but it's costly. He has experienced vets on the bench. At center and at tackle and guard.. I think it's typical to stick with his draft picks and a costlier vet free agent. Either that or klemms talent evaluation is poor. Hard to believe we would get worse .

Look at Faneca.

Many of those guys just are not genetically designed to be 300+ pounds, but they put on the weight to compete and make money in the NFL.

I'm sure there are long term health implications involved.

Some drop a ton of body fat. All of those massive guts are not good to have for life. If they stop lifting the body will also slowly revert back to its untrained state.

Rearranging chairs on tje Titanic.

They really were building around big Dot and for him to show up like he did was a huge downer… club med for underachievers one of knocks against coach tomlin no fear of your losing job playing for Steelers like working a government job. On paper this line has huge potential… a few year years from now lol but ya they are big move pretty well but you have to run some basic plays the showcases that… 3.2 ypr? Bullshit this line is better than that… ****** play calling has become the norm in the ‘burgh.

I'd rather leave Dotson in the starting lineup and put Finney at center, myself, but they've somehow determined that Assenholer is the better backup option there, so who knows?
