I watched some of the workouts. I like Amari Rodgers a lot. Man..he is ripped and built like a RB.

Rodgers not as fast as I thought he would be. Has some weight and strength for a short WR.

Penn State pro day today

40 times
DE/LB Jason Oweh 4.36
LB Micah Parsons 4.39
CB/S Lamont Wade 4.47
DE Shaka Toney 4.51
G/T Will Fries 5.33

Parson is going top 10. Oweh probably just cemented himself in the 1st round.

Parsons, Oweh and Toney had incredible times for their positions. Damn!

Tomlin was seen at pro day talking with asante samuel jr

Insane speed for Oweh, tape? How'd he do last year? Has to be double-digit sack numbers with those measurables.

I also like Rodgers from Clemson. Not a big guy, will work from the slot I expect. He reminds me of Antwaan Randle-El. Good route runner, tough after the catch, good hands, not afraid to catch in traffic.

I think he is available in round 4, after the Steelers go QB, LT, C first three rounds.

I see you're trying to start an argument on the board ... lol

He had 0 sacks last year. But he had a ton of pressures. He influences a lot of plays. He didn't start a lot of games and he only played like 1 year of high school. He's a raw athlete that is still learning.

Tomlin, Colbert and TE coach Alfredo Roberts were there so the steelers have some big interest in some PSU guys this year. It makes sense because PSU has a bunch of guys at positions of need that will be available throughout the draft.

Freiermuth said that he has talked with the steelers and Roberts a lot over the last month or so. There is no way he'll be available in Round 2. Could he be in play at 24? I think that will be close to where he goes. He did not run or lift today but he did route running drills with Roberts directing him.

Parson, Oweh or Friermuth would all be in play at 24 if available. I can't see any way Parsons is available. Oweh could be available just because he may be a project, but he's such an athlete he can be used a lot of ways.

Shaka Toney would be a great value edge rusher in round 4. Menet G/C and Fries G/T both have a lot of starts and experience and could be available late.

Lamont Wade is a lot like Mike Hilton.

A tight end in the first round would be a total waste for the Steelers. They are a WR focused team and should continue to invest in that position rather than spend much on a tight end. What's your thoughts on Toney later in the draft?

I think Toney will be a great value if he's there in Rd 3 or later. I wouldn't take him higher than that because he's not the crazy athlete like Oweh and he may not be able to play off the ball. Oweh will be a project in that regard too but he has such upside it's worth rolling the dice. Toney is a good player and would at least be a good depth guy who should be able to contribute immediately as a pass rusher in a rotation.

People are bashing the OL with good reason but a big part of why the run game sucked was the TEs. Ebron can't block and Vance was awful last year. Even when the steelers had great TEs like Bruener and Heat, the passing game was still focused on WRs but they were a big part of the offense.

Freiermuth needs some work on his blocking as do pretty much all college TEs these days, but he is a very physical player. He's a very willing blocker which is half the battle much of the time.

If they add Freiermuth, they can run a lot more 2 TE sets which would likely mean the defense responds with bigger personnel. This gives an advantage because Ebron plays like a WR. I think Canada would have a lot of wrinkles using Freiermuth as an inline blocker and like an H back. Kind of like how the Pats used Hernandez.

I would love for them to get Freiermuth but i struggle on finding how to fit him in a mock. SInce OT is so deep, they probably can wait on it until Rd 2 but then if you go TE in RD 1 and OT in Rd 2, then it starts pushing other positions down. I would think they'd have to go DB in Rd 3 in that scenario. Then that takes them out of the RB market. They'd get a guy but likely a rotation guy and not a lead back. I'd actually be OK with that because i feel good about McFarland and think they can likely pick up a vet off the street or maybe a trade.

Tombert is at OSU...Trey Sermon? The Center too, probably.

Werner or Browning as 3rd or 4th round ILB options. Both put up some pretty good numbers today.
I'm thinking the Ballage signing takes Sermon off the board.

They are pretty similar, although, Ballage has pretty good hands...not sure about Sermon.

I forgot about ILBs. Good mid-round options for sure.

i like Werner and Browning. Werner has great instincts in coverage and he’s tough. Only drawback is he’s not that big and that’s a concern since Bush is also small.

I’d like to see the measurements on Browning. I heard some breakdowns on him saying that OSU didn’t use him right. He should be an edge rusher but they had him off the ball most times.

Browning:
6-foot-3
241 pounds
40: 4.53 and 4.58
Vert: 40"
LJ: 10'10"
Bench: 23 reps

I'm going to break out the "template" here. He really wasn't used right at tOSU in that they bounced him around from Outside to Inside every year. His versatility was a hindrance to him in that the coaching staff tended to put him where they needed him at the moment rather than allowing him to legitimately compete, earn a spot and grow in any one position. Not having that wealth of experience off the ball showed up a few times last year and has led some to question his instincts. Instincts are honed with stable playing time at one position.
That said, he's Edge capable, but, I think his best fit in the NFL is off the ball. Love to see what Jerry O could mold with this clay,
