Some of the scuttlebutt around was they were making a play for him. I don't think he was getting as much freedom there as he was hoping.

Good for Monken. Its not like the Rats have ever fired an OC mid-season or anything.

Other teams strive to improve and our Steelers still quiet as a church mouse. Thinking they are the smartest in the room.

"Stability."

I'd be fine if Matt Canada was actually a good OC with a strong pedigree. He's not good and his resume is mediocre. From a fan's POV, there is no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt because he's never earned it.

Monken seems like a solid hire for the Ravens. Cleary they want to be a better passing team and I would not be surprised to see them grab a receiver in the first.

my first thought was, this is how a winning team operates. They rode this simple scheme as far as they could and now they want more. Unlike the Steelers.

My second thought. Does this mean they are done with Lamar? Monken's offense isn't built around read option. Maybe they sign Lamar to the franchise tag, then trade him away and draft a new QB.

Haven’t you heard, Action can be a pocket passing QB. Ask him, he wants paid like one.

I just hope our OC makes enough strides to warrant not his immediate dismissal.

Immediate dismissal he says......

When is the last time they canned and replaced any coach mid season? Peezy was fired but that was after the season I thought.

Steady as she goes boys! Mediocrity island dead ahead!

I was referring to his being kept after the season was over, as in final sound of the gun for last game ending, as to him having to hitchhike home.

I know, the term immediate doesn't seem to ever be in the Steelers vocabulary though. In this day and age we shouldn't have to wait till the end of the year for them to show someone the door. If you aren't getting the job done in the beginning, they should not give you another year or years to try and figure it out. Go waste another teams time trying to make it work.

I don't get why Bienemy would leave unless he was offered substantially more. If Lefty isn't going to B'more as OC he is still available as maybe pass game coordinator or similar?

If he wants to be a head coach he may want to leave. He just won another Super Bowl and didn't get a job. Everyone thinks it's Reid and Mahomes with Bienemy along for the ride. A strong performance in a less cushy situation vaults him to the top of the HC list.

The Steelers are certainly less cushy.

that’s exactly why he should leave. Nobody in the league thinks it’s Bienemeny making the offense go. Kind of like nobody gave Peyton Manning’s OC credit. He should either take a college OC job or just wait in KC until Reid retires.

Or take a lateral move.
