it is smart to do so.

On the other hand, if he rests starters it'll be like 2 and a half weeks between real game action.

To rest starters, yes.
Except I never right away assumed they would. They hate losing to us, then theirs the idea of keeping players becoming stagnant because of the bye they'll be getting.

It is smart to leave the Steelers guessing. They probs won't start a lot of their key plays. But why come out and say that until they have to

i hope all their starters play...

Whats the concern?

We have won 6 of the last 7 meetings and Lamar is 2-4 against us all-time.

F-em'!

There is no concern regarding that. I hope their starters play too.

The reason for posting this is that the article implied that the Steelers believed the Ravens were going to rest their players, when in fact no one knew what the Ravens would be up to.
Hence, not a surprise, or as they put it a "curveball"

^^^ THIS! I dont think they trot Lamar out there, it would be terribly stupid to risk 80% of your offensive output on a meaningless game. Their goal is a Superbowl, the Steelers to eek into the playoffs.

If folks believe we can only beat a depleted team why would you want to make the playoffs anyway? I am realistic but I am a homer. I would be impressed and believe it to be far more meaningful to the team’s new progress to beat the Raven’s starters.

If we play their backups fine, but I will never ask for it.

All this about a nothing Burger.

We have NO control over who plays, all we can do is play who is put in front of us.

Neither their, nor our players are worried about who plays.

The FAN (not all) is more worried than anyone.

Don’t be the FAN, be the Player !!!!

Next thing yaz know,………… we will be the “bakery” of sadness———— ****

Salute the nation

I hope they play their starters. It's suppose to rain, possibly snow for the game. Go ahead and risk your playoff success, I have no problem with it.

I know we can beat Lamar, he's the least of my worries if they play their starters.

I would play the starters in the first half. When you get the bye, I have never been a fan of resting starters in the final week. That means they won't have played a game in 3 full weeks. It always seems to bite teams in the hind end when they do that.

Plus it gives Watt, Herbig, and Highsmith a chance to beat the ever loving **** out of him. I don't want to see him hurt, just battered, bruised, and complete lack of confidence leaving the stadium.

Bermuda you have not been watching Jackson this year. He hangs out in the pocket like he's sitting by the pool. Scrambles to extend and then throws accurate balls. Rarely runs. I'll do a shirt search and see his average dropback

Unfortunately he has improved every year and is now one of the best and his contract looks like a bargain.

If Lamar plays and suffers an injury then Harbaugh should be run out of Baltimore. There is no cost-benefit analysis that makes sense for them to risk him.

Maybe Tomlin will throw his own curveball and rest the Steeler starters.
Check and mate, Hairball! :ROFLMAO:
Steelers won their Super Bowl last week when they hit 9 wins, so they can rest their starters too.

He is an aggressive coach. Still to risk your top players in an insignificant game would be idiotic.
They have nothing to play for, right? Off week 1 of playoffs right? The ONLY possible reason for playing ANY starters would be to keep from rust setting in, which would not mean playing them the entire game, maybe just a few series. We have all seen a 1 seed come in rusty from inactivity for 2 weeks, so that would be the only reason to play the starters some. You'd be near suicidal if you lost a starter from injury in this situation.

My one buddy (Browns' fan) thinks the Ravens are so good their 2nd string would make the playoffs. You got to know that the Ravens knocking the Steelers out of the playoffs would be something the team and fan base would enjoy tremendously, but not at the risk of blowing a Super Bowl for.

Sigh. I get the funny you just made here. I did chuckle. And there is some truth to what you said, for this Tomlin team. "Yea, a non-losing record! We win!"
