On this date, February 1, 2009, the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII, 27-23, to take home the franchise’s sixth Lombardi Trophy. With this victory, the Steelers became the first team to win six Super Bowl championships in the NFL. The Cardinals were led by head coach, Ken Whisenhunt, who was the Steelers’ offensive coordinator in Super Bowl XL against the Seattle Seahawks.

An epic ending to an epic game was highlighted by a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown by Steelers’ linebacker, James Harrison, and a touchdown throw to Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes from future Hall of Fame quarterback Ben Roethlisberger with just :35 seconds left for the go-ahead score.

#OTD in 2009, Ben to Santonio happened.
