While many have speculated this could be, it appears it is confirmed that Pittsburgh Steelers’ veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not return after this season:
This likely means Roethlisberger will retire after this season. He has been the team’s starter since 2004. He is without doubt a first ballot Hall of Famer. He is top 10 in most passing categories in league history, as well as being the record holder in most of Pittsburgh’s passing history as well.
These last few games should not be taken for granted. These will likely be the last ones we ever see Roethlisberger in the black and gold. Coming up is his potential last home game at Heinz Field against division rival Baltimore Ravens. He will try to close out the first game of the year against Baltimore with the team’s first win in three weeks.
Once again, don’t take these games for granted. Roethlisberger is the embodiment of what it means to be a Steeler, and has never been anything less.

Ben Roethlisberger privately has told former teammates and some within the organization that he expects this to be his final season playing quarterback for the Steelers, league sources told ESPN.
More coming ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, with a special start time at 9 am ET.
