For offense and defense it’s no surprise, Ben Roethlisberger and Cam Heyward continue to be the leaders of this team. The special teams captain this year is Derek Watt. The one surprise here is that last year Co-captain TJ Watt is not announced as captain. This may be in part due to the ongoing negotiations of a contract extension. Regardless of this, we congratulate the three captains, and look forward to them leading the team into a year where they will look to secure a seventh Lombardi trophy for Pittsburgh.

No shockers here.

Why would you name a guy who isn't even suiting up for football games as a captain of your team? Kind of hard to participate in the coin toss.

They didn't if you are talking about TJ but if you are talking Derrick then I see your point due to injury holding him out.

I hear yaz on this note. TJ WATT could become a qwick villian if he doesn't fully participate VERY soon. I hope for positive in that regards.

Congratulation to Both Ben Roethlisberger Offensive Team Captain and Cam Heyward defensive team captain. Also don't forget Derrick Watt as STs captain.

Salute the nation

Yes, I was referring to TJ, not Derek. I applaud the rest of the Steelers for not naming him a captain, because his non-participation has been by choice, not because of injury.
