According to ESPN’s NFL Reporter Jeremy Fowler, the Pittsburgh Steelers plan to place an original round tender on restricted free agent QB Dwayne Haskins. See his tweet below.
The tender Fowler mentions pays Haskins a non-guaranteed $2.5 million in 2022, and lines up with previous comments made by Haskins stating that he was told he’d compete for the starting job in 2022.
The original round tender is the lowest tender possible to be assigned, but if a team attempted to sign Haskins away from the Steelers it would cost them a first round pick due to him being a 1st round pick back in 2019 by the Washington Football Team.
Haskins didn’t make any starts or see any playing time for the Steelers in 2021 after being signed last offseason by the team. He served primarily as the teams #3 QB.
