On Wednesday afternoon news broke that the Pittsburgh Steelers were interested in trading for under performing former second round pick Denzel Mims. It was believed that the Steelers were targeting Mims due to his ability to stretch the field when given the opportunity.

Still might see a WR brought in by cutdowns. Wouldn't hurt to have another wideout in the mix.

SNY.tv reports the New York Jets are trading WR Denzel Mims to the Detroit Lions, sources said. The deal includes a conditional 6th-round draft pick to the Jets in return for a 7th-rounder from the Jets in 2025.

This is per ffmastermind.

Once they pulled him from waivers, it was essentially between the Lions and Steelers. The Jets weren't sending him to the Pats. Considering the Lions are out of conference, the Steelers would have had to up the ante. He has a much better chance of sticking with Detroit so a conditional pick with them makes sense.

Missed out on an underperformer?

Ooookay.

just a big nothing burger of a story.

I heard that comment from somebody else.

Probably no one important.

GOOD read and gives the details.

I’m glad we didn’t trade by burning up future draft picks. Our WR room is to deep to risk weather a “maybe” might make the3 roster while burning picks to find out.

Another showing of a great GM and cronies making the right decision.

Even better deal for the Lions now, as it is reported the trade is contingent on Mims making their final 53.

That significantly changes the nature of the deal. A 6th for a 7th for a roster guy isn't bad. But let's remember if all things are equal a team is always trading out of conference. Now Detroit could theoretically win the NFC north and maybe get a lower pick but I wouldn't count that as a sure thing. Truth is there will be four or five guys like this released if they are unhappy with wr 5 or there is an injury.

We definitely didn’t need another wr unless something else happened… two or three guys we cut probably make it onto another teams roster..
I am fine with us adding talent at little to no cost because injuries happen and Id rather be stacked at a position than searching the waiver wire or worse spending premium assets because a couple guys went down early in camp… but I wouldn’t be sending surefire assets out for a guy that has a remote chance to make the roster…

Averaged 16 yards per catch for his career...ZERO TD'S

How does that even happen?

I get the want to have as much talent on the roster as possible but we already have a reclamation project in Hakeem Butler. I would say he is very unlikely to make roster as is. My Guess Mims would have had about the same odds.

What is the fascination with this guy? He's got 42 catches in 30 NFL games without a score. Oh no...the Steelers let him get away to the Lions!

Who gives a shlt?

How do you have 86 receptions without a touchdown?

I did like Mims coming into the NFL, he just hasn't put it together. I didn't see the need or the fit when the rumors came out.

Might want to ask Deonte Johnson…….. about the 0-TD department……..

I think I advocated trading for him in the past.. but again we are so deep right now at wr I just don’t think it is a good use of assets

Maybe they were looking to bring an underperforming offense player in to translate the game plan for the real NFL guys on the roster trying desperately to comprehend the underperforming offensive brain trust’s game plan

You know a guy who “speaks crayon”
