Beto O'Rourke's campaigns paid $110K to Internet company that he founded, wife ran

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke is facing scrutiny amid revelations that his previous political campaigns paid around $110,000 to an Internet company that he founded and his wife ran.

The former three-term congressman from Texas who’s now a leading 2020 candidate along with U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., has long been criticized for alleged corrupt practices, including backing a real estate deal in El Paso, Texas, proposed by his wealthy father-in-law.

But according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) records, O’Rourke’s political campaigns since 2011 paid nearly $110,000 to Stanton Street Technology Group, a company founded by O’Rourke in 1998 and later led by his wife, Amy Sanders O’Rourke.

The payments to the firm were first reported by the Daily Caller. While such disbursements aren’t necessarily illegal, they raise questions about whether the company charged market value for its services. To do otherwise would violate campaign finance laws.

O’Rourke stopped controlling the company in 2013 after being elected into Congress. His wife took over and controlled the company until 2017.

But it appears that O’Rourke’s 2020 campaign won’t follow the tradition of using Stanton Street Technology Group every election cycle now that neither he nor his wife owns the company.

New CEO Brian Wancho told the Daily Caller that the 2020 campaign isn’t using the company for social media or web services, adding that it was unlikely O’Rourke acted unethically by paying the company.

“I expect the combination of campaign expenditure reporting and investigative journalism to work together to root out the situations where the candidate is abusing the system.”

“What would be out of bounds is if the candidate abused the process and overpaid for goods and services just to enrich themself [sic] or their family,” Wancho said.

But, but... paying a porn star not to talk about your "on the side sex arrangement between two consenting adults" is a more serious campaign finance infraction than skimming money off the top to a made up company that does bullshit work to enrich your family.... says every democrat ever.

No, no, no, Supe. The campaign paid some Irish guy named "Robert Francis O'Rourke" for the campaign assistance, not "Mexican Beto."

Jeez, get your facts straight.

oh, his twin. my bad.

I was going to go with 'Gorlami'. But Vincent rained me in.

He comes across as a rich, spoiled, frat boy to me..

This guy has about as much as a chance as being the POTUS as I do.

Nothing to see here...Im moving along...

A wannabe career politician with no other means of supporting a decent lifestyle misusing public funds? No way.

That type learns it early and often.

MSM will try it's best should he somehow get the nomination, but agree he'll be exposed.

The War has begun

Sanders, O'Rourke face off in Iowa

It’s Bernie versus Beto in Iowa on a busy campaign weekend in the early nominating states.

The two 2020 Democratic presidential candidates are holding dueling events just days after Bernie Sanders won the campaign cash derby for the first quarter of the year. The Vermont senator raised more than $18 million in 41 days, while Beto O’Rourke, a former Texas congressman, reported $9.4 million in 18 days.

The money is important in their efforts to meet a new Democratic National Committee threshold for 20 coveted spots in presidential debates that begin in June.

But their stops in Iowa, with an emphasis on young people, are key gauges of support in a state that hosts the nation’s first nominating caucuses

Some "news" outlet actually cited his Mexican heritage recently. Wtf?

https://www.studentnewsdaily.com/ex...cribes-orourke-speaking-in-his-native-spanish

It was the AP. Speaking In his native Spanish.

“We have learned not to fear our differences, but to respect and embrace them,” he told a crowd that waved small American flags and black-and-white signs reading “Viva Beto” while often interrupting their candidate to chant his first name.*Mr. O’Rourke also spoke at length in his native Spanish, eliciting loud and sustained cheers.

The inaccurate description has since been edited to remove the “native” part. Following criticism on social media, it now reads:

“We have learned not to fear our differences, but to respect and embrace them,” he told a crowd that waved small American flags and black-and-white signs reading “Viva Beto” while often interrupting their candidate to chant his first name.*O’Rourke also spoke at length in Spanish, eliciting loud and sustained cheers.

I think he comes across as good con man without a lot of politcan baggage attached to him, and therein lies the problem.

Unlike the rest of the field, he's got some appeal, energy, and charisma.

Worry not, this is a very weak Democratic lot, once the campaign begins, look for a circular firing squad against each other with several of the more accomplished candidates aiming their guns, ( which they want to ban ) At Robert Francis...AKA Beto first.

and he's another Palestinian lover

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke calls Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu a "racist"

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke on Sunday offered sweeping criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him a "racist" whose embrace of a far-right government group as part of a last-ditch effort to rally his extremist base and cling onto political power has destroyed any chance of achieving peace in the Middle East.

O'Rourke continued, saying he did not believe Netanyahu, who is facing one of his toughest election challenges as Israelis get ready to go to the polls Tuesday, "represents the true will of the Israeli people; or the best interests of the U.S.-Israel relationship; or any path to peace for the people of the Palestinian Authority, the Gaza Strip and the state of Israel."

He went on to endorse a two-state solution in order to broker peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
