Today was the day for players that have voidable years on their contracts to officially become void. Those contracts voided five days following the Super Bowl.

The Pittsburgh Steelers had three out of the twelve players on today’s list. Ben Roethlisberger, Eric Ebron, and JuJu Smith-Schuster were the Steelers on the list.

Per @corryjoel, today, Feb 17th, the contracts of 14 different players void:

Duane Brown
Quandre Diggs
Eric Ebron
Gerald Everett
Jakeem Grant
Melvin Ingram
Malik Jackson
Ethan Pocic
Riley Reiff
Ben Roethlisberger
Jalen Richard
JuJu Smith-Schuster
Laken Tomlinson
Anthony Walker

That officially makes Ebron, and Smith-Schuster free agents at the beginning of the league year. Roethlisberger of course already announced his retirement.

The Steelers will have dead money cap charges for all three of these playes in 2022.

The Steelers aren’t expected to retain Smith-Schuster or Ebron for next season. Smith-Schuster has been connected to the Chiefs and Cowboys so far this off-season.

I hate transition.

Love ya Ben.

I wish they would at least make JuJu an offer

I think he gets a three-year deal for 30 million from the Chiefs. I think he came back last year for Ben. The injury was unfortunate. He didn't have to come back for the playoff game but showed a lot of heart in doing so. They could look to the later rounds for guys like Skyy Moore, Gray, and Roberson from SMU, Kyle Phillips from UCLA. I will miss JuJu.
