Roquan Smith to Ravens

This shows how pathetic our front office is. Not only did we not make the move to acquire him, now we get to play him twice a year. He’s their new Ray Lewis. ****!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depends on what the Ravens had to give up for him. I wouldn’t trade the Steelers 2023 1st rounder for anyone right now.

Agreed, I don't think Baltimore will sign him long term but it's a smart move. They gave up a second and fifth but will probably get a 3rd round compensatory pick. They're all in this year and it would make no sense for us to trade for a nine game rental considering where this team is now.

they will either franchise LJ or sign him to Mahomes $, so it would be interesting where Smith would fit into their cap after this year. Hopefully he walks after their first round exit. :D
 
They traded him because he wasn't being used properly.
 
Yep in Steelerland quiet as a church mouse. With no tweaks or additions. No trades to gain draft capital. Just chirps.
 
That is the ravens trying to capitalize on their final year with cap space, can't blame them for trying but if they don't win **** or they can't keep roquan next season this trade will be a big failure (depending on how much they paid of course)
 
That's the kind of trade I mean with Heyward. Now you could say he is 25 and Heyward is 33. Yeah but it's one year for either of them. Heyward is capable of playing at Pro Bowl level as much as Smith. A team like say the Chiefs will need to keep up. (I'm making up the Chiefs I don't need if the need inside dline improvement). But you get the point.

WhoAo the horses. They will need to negotiate a long term deal and Smith wants to re-set the LB market. Let them tie up a lotSA money in him and Lemar, I mean bank breaking money......... then manage the rest of the tea and cap.

We currently have one of if not the highest paid defense in the NFL............... let that sink in. I don't know if we can afford another "top paid" player at their position.

YES I'd like to have hi but reality has to show it's smirk once in awhile too.!

I realize that but my point is this. Smith is a two or three month rental. Heyward is 34 next year. He could be good next year, he is betterbthsn good now. The Steelers will not be good next year. Get what you can if it's good now.
 
Reading a few things in the media from Chicago perspective. He,like Lamar,have no agent. He is unbending in believing he is the top player in his position and wants to set the record for dollars signed and guarantee. And has sat out in belief of his talent. Chicago fans and Management obviously don’t agree. While many fans are pissed off they didn’t get a first,they realize he was never going to sign with Chicago. If the Ravens truly believe he is the missing piece and they go on to win the big one with him,it’s a great deal for them.

As much as I have criticized the Steelers in always looking for bargain basement type,I guess I should give them credit for going for a difference maker.

I don’t see how they give him the big money and pay Lamar too… its weird… i don’t feel like tge Ravens are close to contending status right now…

Fully agree. Ravens are not close to Buffalo or Philadelphia. Or KC. I even think Dallas is a dark horse.
And I don’t think they can pay both. But hey....what can I say. Right or wrong They’re trying.

And probably nowhere next year too

That our FO is flat out rejecting to even speak about trading players like Cam to teams inquiring shows the multiple layers of incompetence going on within this organization
