Russia has been barred from the 2018 Winter Games for systematic doping.

It’s a punishment without precedent in Olympic history.

LAUSANNE, Switzerland — Russia’s Olympic team has been barred from the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The country’s government officials are forbidden to attend, its flag will not be displayed at the opening ceremony and its anthem will not sound.

Any athletes from Russia who receive special dispensation to compete will do so as individuals wearing a neutral uniform, and the official record books will forever show that Russia won zero medals.

So no NHL, No Russia - WTF are we supposed to watch? Nigeria is able to enter a women’s bobsled team?

The problem here is, much like NCAA punishments, those being punished now weren’t involved in the actual crime. A whole bunch of athletes that weren’t involved in the Sochi doping scandal don’t get to compete in the Olympics. I can’t even imagine a figure skating competition without the Russians. Everyone should get asterisks* for these games.

A lot of them will probably be on other countries' teams. Like Eddie The Eagle.

Alexander the Russian.....errr Alexander the Turkish great.

The olympics are held what? Every four years? Let the Rooskies compete.
Let the athletes dope. I don't care. These athletes train countless hours.

As long as they are not sabotaging games like the Patriots(knowing opponents game plans)
Everything else should be accepted. The best of the best + enhancement

nope

Russia banned from Winter Olympics but 'clean' athletes can compete

The "clean" Russian athletes must meet strict guidelines to make it to South Korea and will compete under the name "Olympic Athlete from Russia" (OAR). They will wear a uniform with that name on it and the Olympic anthem will be played at any medal ceremonies for Russian athletes.

I could care less about performance enhancing stuff as long as everyone gets to do it.

That needed to happen. Russian are always making themselves bigger are stronger. Too much Rocky I Must Break You.

Hahaha... The Russians actually brought performance enhancing drugs into sports. They're the pioneers. Back in the late 40's early 50's they introduced the synthetic testosterone deca durabolin. Which was the world's most popular drug up until testing for it was developed in the late 70's.

Tell Lance Armstrong that

I'm ok with ped's too.

Let the athletes use whatever helps them perform.
All these athletes just get caught at an unfortunate time

I agree, it's survival of the fittest......oh like the ancient Greeks didn't juice up before their Games

Pump them all up! Higher faster stronger! We want to see it! We demand entertainment!

Tell Lance Armstrong that

Yeah he kind of got a raw deal in a very dirty sport. His mistake was being greedy in coming back again. So many sports have that **** going on. The ones that claim to be pure and clean like crossfit nationals and natural bodybuilding are not. Hell 50% of MLB juiced to the gills for years. It wasn't until homerun records started getting obliterated that it made headlines.

Just let them play with whatever. That's my view anyway.
