Yeah, not shocking.

Tropical forests are growing faster than scientists thought due to rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
A Nasa-led study has found that tropical forests are absorbing 1.5 billion tons of carbon dioxide every year as they photosynthesise and grow.

The dichotomies abound in this article. Must be really painful to be a warmist.

Oh yeah, global sea ice just broke another record. That warming "pause" is special.

Well trees "breathe" co2 so not surprising. Not sure what this has to do with global warming though.

Researchers claim their findings emphasise the need to protect rainforests from deforestation to help counteract human greenhouse gas emissions.

You don't get the...never mind. If warmists had any sense of irony, the movement would have died decades ago.

The challenge is getting people to stop cutting down all those rain forests. The planet is a largely self-correcting system, if we don't do the things that specifically stop it from operating that way.

Hmmmm, trees take in CO2. Why don't we build more of those? I have been doing my part, in 50 years our house will be in the middle of a forest.

Throughout history, there have been periods of massive amounts of CO2 being released. Those same periods have been overcome by increases in forest cover. This period of time, Humans are responsible for the results. We are ADDING to the CO2 release, through massive burning of fossil fuels, as well as massive deforestation practices. if we are going to continue on as we are, we should at the very least be planting epic numbers of trees. There are huge tracts of land worldwide that could be planted. Think of all the jobs that would create. It would also allow for huge biomass resources that could be used later. win-win-win

when I fly I always get a chuckle out of thinking about tree huggers, until you approach a major city all you see is trees. This planet is about 1/3 land and most of the land has lots and lots and lots of trees.

Pfft, Ronald Reagan said that 30 years ago.

Except in South America (where the largest system of rain forests exists), where they are rapidly destroying those trees for grazing land for cattle. The Amazon basin has suffered almost 20% deforestation since 1970.

Not going to argue that de-forestation is occurring. I can/will debate the impact it is or is not having.

However, PLEASE quote a source far more credible than Ariana's Leftist HuffPo. The number of bogus stories they print and the number of retractions they have to offer is embarrassing.

Did you read any of the attributions in the article? The FACTS come from research compiled by NASA, Michigan State, and Brazil's National Institute for Space Research. You can accuse HuffPo of having a bias, but to suggest that they somehow misappropriated the data for an agenda is pretty dumb. If your only takeaway and response is to criticize the outlet for the information, then you really have no place in this debate, and it's clear you're the kind of Republican that is all surface and no depth. I didn't pick the link for its left leanings, I picked it because it had a graphic in it that I felt properly illustrated the extent of the ecological damage that has been done. But if you want credible sources, perhaps try following the links in the article:

The good news is that the rate of deforestation in the Amazon is greatly less today than in previous decades, but the bad news is that what is gone, is gone for good. Even with aggressive conservation and reforestation programs, the ecosystems that have been destroyed are not easily replaced, and it would likely take thousands of years to restore what has been destroyed in less than half a century.

That is exactly all I am saying. I suggest they misappropriate quite a bit and have a history of doing so (per the links).

Just asking that you utilize other sources, if to be taken seriously (as you did in your rebuttal).

You'll also note, I'm not debating. I didn't disagree that de-forestation has occurred.

It's one thing if they took the data and make up a story that doesn't fit the data. In this case, however, the data and the story they're pushing align. I can understand that you are leery of the source, but a broken clock is still right twice a day. Again, I didn't pick HuffPo because of their left slant, I picked it because it was the first link that came up on a Google search that had the kind of image I was looking for. But the source data they used is also from sources I would think don't suffer the bias you're worried about.

You never hear about "Save the Rainforest" anymore - - that because you'd have to blame socialist South American countries for destroying the planet.

If the USA can't be blamed - leftists aren't interested

Steroids also help you build muscle......so go ahead and do the world a favor by doing your best Lyle Alzado impersonation. Idiots by the dozen.

Never fails...another one of those inane libtard analogies rears it's head.
So explain how steroid overuse, known to cause brain cancer and heart problems is analogous to trees absorbing more Co2 than previously thought?

Racist!!!

Usually when you have to stoop to wishing death on people, that means you have accepted that your argument is worthless and you have nothing else to offer.

Not allowing the Brazilians to deforest the Amazon is racist.

Impressive indeed.

It's a pretty common tactic for the left generally and elfie in particular.......
