Mike Tomlin, Kevin Colbert and Brandon Hunt all attended the Ol' Miss Pro Day today. Making it 3 days in a row that they have attended a pro day where one of the draft's top QB prospects was performing. It's notable that the brass of the WR needy Steelers passed on sending at least one of Colbert or Tomlin to the pro day held at tOSU today. A pro day where two of the top WR prospects in this year's draft were scheduled to perform. The signs are definitely pointing to the team taking one of the QBs in the first round of this year's draft.

I admittedly have very little knowledge of Pro Days but is it possible that the Steelers are there checking receivers that aren't top picks. All 32 teams were at Malik Willis' Pro Day. Not all 32 teams are looking at picking a QB especially teams like KC, Buffalo, Cinci...

The fact they didn't send anyone to where 2 top WR picks says they aren't picking a receiver in the first.

Not neccessarily on no WR pick in the first. They know those two or may have already met with them. They may feel either is NOT going to be there at 1.20. The media is pushing the "locked in 1st rnd QB pick" story line to get clicks.

I see it as doing diligence to the process.

Salute the nation

Anything is possible. But, you don't send the house to the pro days of the top three QBs in the draft (three days in a row) if you aren't looking really hard at that position in the draft. The fact that they didn't send one of Colbert, Hunt, or Tomlin to tOSU does indicate that they aren't looking at WR in the first round (or at least not one of OLAVE or Wilson if they are). Moreover, Ol' Miss top WR prospect in the draft this year is Dontario Drummond, who most of the "prognosticators" have slated for between the 3rd and 5th round. They were there to see Corral.

I get the feeling if Colbert and Tomlin really liked any of these QB's they wouldn't have signed Trubisky. That's why I don't see them drafting one in the first. Maybe in the 2nd as a development QB.

They might be thinking second round just as easily. I really hope it isn't a QB in 1.

I reeeeeeally hope they’re trying to make it seem like they want a QB so they can trade back or even allow the player(s) they want to draft to fall to them.

Could also be that with the QB carousel in free agency changing everything drastically that neither of those two will be there at 20. Who knows. Its so hard to predict outside of the first few picks.

Meh until the next true franchise qb is in south side for sure, they had better be at every top qbs pro day… i dont care if Trabisky, Rudolph and Haskins all end up looking like competent starters, until someone is absolutely golden at that position they better be lookifor any signs of a real franchise guy every single season now

Too bad Alabama does not have a reputation over the past 5 years of developing the best WR prospects in college.

Wait ...
Aren't both Metchie and Williams recovering from torn ACL's?
If so, you're right, Tomlin & Colbert should "wait" and just interview them at their facilities and have the Steeler's doctors check them out.

Don't worry, bro... we'll leave some cheese out for dem tOSU WRs!!!
That's good. I mean since y'all had to raid our cupboard to get full this past year, it's the least y'all could do. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Did you look at the kid from Nevada??? His name escapes me now but he's big and fast. But...

I see Claypool all over again...
I was planning on looking at Christian Watson (ironic name, all things considered) from North Dakota State (6'4". 208 lbs and 4.36 forty) along with Justyn Ross. If the Nevada guy you're talking about is Romeo Doubs, I'll take a look at him also.

*Note that when I take a look, it's not like Ford or any of the "draft guys". I'm just looking and familiarizing with names and skills of certain guys that catch my attention. Evaluating talent? Not I.

Nevada North Dakota same damn place LMAO.

I was referring to Christian Watson (yeah, he's not gonna get any nookie behind closed doors)...

Kid has "beep beep" speed. And for such a long strider, he gets to top speed quickly. As a person who is not a talent evaluator, I still wonder if he doesn't body catch a little too much. But, I saw a few times when he had to make contested hand catches, he was able to do so.
They ran him a lot on sweeps. So, he'd be used to it if he comes to the Steelers. lol
I wonder why, at his size and speed, he ended up at North Dakota State.

Just doing their due diligence. I don't think it's a sign of anything. In a few years, one of these QB's may become available and Tomlin will look back on this just like he has with other players.

Tomlin and Colbert don't mess around with these pro days. Not always, but often the guys they take in the first round are guys visit on pro days. They are absolutely getting one final look at the top QBs in this draft.

I think the best receiver in the draft is in our own back yard and under rated.........Jahan Dotson. He is a true No.1

My next favorite receiver is David Bell and both might be available in the 2nd rd.

I’m starting to wonder if Watson could be the second coming of Randy Moss or close to it. His dad was an NFL player and Watson only caught 20 passes for 400 yards in high school, so maybe he was just under the radar or late/undeveloped? Maybe had he played for a bigger high school program or been more developed we’d be looking at top 5 pick from a power 5 school?
