Social Security Administration: Gun Ban Officially Removed from Federal Code

On May 18 the Social Security Administration (SSA) announced that it officially removed the Social Security gun ban from the federal code.

The Social Security gun ban allowed the SSA to strip certain recipients of their Second Amendment rights without due process. It did this by allowing the SSA to investigate beneficiaries who required help managing finances and were subject to a broad mental health moniker.

In light of the breadth of the mental health moniker, Duke University psychiatry and behavioral science professor Jeffrey Swanson observed that Barack Obama’s Social Security gun ban targeted the “vulnerable” rather than the dangerous. The Washington Post quoted Swanson’s explanation that the ban “[takes] away the gun rights of a large category of individuals without any evidence that they pose a risk of harm to self or others.”

So, a group that was vulnerable rather than dangerous was the target of the gun ban, and those whom the SSA singled out were liable to lose their Second Amendment rights without due process. This would occur when the SSA turned gave names of Social Security beneficiaries to the National Instant Criminal Background Checks System (NICS), thus barring those beneficiaries from buying guns.

On February 2 the GOP-controlled House of Representatives voted to repeal the ban. On February 15 the GOP-controlled Senate voted to repeal the ban. And on February 28 President Trump signed the repeal.

The Islamic State has urged its adherents to buy weapons from gun shows in the United States to take advantage of gun control laws.

“The acquisition of firearms can be very simple depending on one’s geographical location,” says a new piece in Rumiyah, ISIS's propaganda magazine, the Washington Post reports. “In most U.S. states, anything from a single-shot shotgun all the way up to a semi-automatic AR-15 rifle can be purchased at showrooms or through online sales — by way of private dealers — with no background checks, and without requiring either an ID or a gun license.”

“With approximately 5,000 gun shows taking place annually within the United States, the acquisition of firearms becomes a very easy matter," the article continues. A photo caption says, "Gun conventions represent an easier means of arming oneself for an attack.”

Good. That nonsense was unconstitutional in the first place. If they ban guns from people, try liberals. They're hidden in a safe place curled up in a ball in their parents basement playing social justice warrior.

One of the biggest left-wing groups in the country, the ACLU, was always against this executive order/change.

Again, for better or worse, the 2nd amendment exists. The left can't act like is doesn't. Infringing on that right or putting "restrictions" on it based on class, intelligence, affluence, color, sex, religion or anything is no different that using those same criteria to restrict free speech or voting rights or anything else in the Constitution.

The liberal media loves to paint the picture gun rights granted by the Constitution and clarified by precedent and judicial rulings are different that all the other Bill of Rights, but it is not.

The Success of the Trump Presidency

While the Democrat/media complex tries to whip their base, and the country into a frenzy, this administration is putting good things in place.

First and foremost for our culture is the restoration of law and order. That begins with giving the respect due to our law enforcement officials, which has been a hallmark of this administration.

The outrageous demonization of law enforcement by the previous administration is gone. The ongoing praise of and cooperation with our police from Trump et al is not only refreshing, it’s going to have a long term positive effect. Violent demonstrators are no longer being coddled (except in Berkley), instead they are prosecuted. Eventually, they won’t even get away with being lawless thugs in Berkley

The existing border laws are being enforced. Illegal crossings are down 70%. ICE agents have been reenergized, rounding up criminals and deporting them. Bad guys are on notice. Drug trafficking will slow. MS-13 is being fought. This is just the beginning.

The country is changing direction. In the face of almost total media opposition, the intransigence and destructive behavior of an entire political party, good things have been done, and better things are on the horizon.

Why would they tell us that? Seems almost like they would be better off if we had stricter gun control. They could still get theirs while we remain ducked.
