Previously did a post on RT's and CB's that should interest the Steelers in the 1st or 2nd. A few CB's that bear considering later, particularly at 138 or even later.

Damarri Mathis
Pittsburgh
5'11" 196 lbs.
4.39 40 at the combine

Good footwork, works well in zone, capable in man coverage. He was excellent his freshman season, injuries kept out of the 2020 season, good-not-great in 2021. Big enough to play outside the numbers, and could excel as slot CB. His speed and size make him a threat to blitz from the slot ala Hilton. I would not mind the Steelers using #138 to get him of they go DL, RT and ILB the first 3 picks.

Akayleb Evans
Missouri
6'2" 197 lbs.
4.47 40, 36" vertical, 129" broad jump.

Lean, quick, not great at being physical with receiver. Arms are long for a CB so he can jam, but gets his hands swatted away too easily. Coachable and fixable. He could turn into a pretty good #2 CB but is not going to rough up Jamaar Chase. Possible 4th round guy, should go in the 5th round but Steelers don't have a 5th. Or a 6th. Or a 4th really.

Joshua Williams
Fayetteville State University
6'3" 195 lbs.
4.53 40, 36" vertical, 124" broad jump

Long-limbed, incredibly long arms for a CB. Thin so the 220 lb. wide receivers are going to outmuscle him and basically stone him when blocking. Decent coverage skills, can turn and run, plays faster than timed, IMO. He needs to work off receivers as he does not do a good job using those long arms to jam. Likes to turn and run instead. Level of competition always a concern for a Division 2 guy but he is fast for a guy that big, and sticks with receivers downfield. Like a lot of young CB's, struggles with quick receivers who make sharp cuts in intermediate routes, but a definite candidate for a 5th round ... damn it.

If the CB can't tackle, they are not on the Steelers radar.
