Well whatcha think… does our draftee develop into a stud in his second season… do we replace him with a free agent, do we draft yet another guy, or do we keep him and he struggles?

They will at least bring in some competition and he was just a rookie but if he blows in camp replace him.

just sign coolie. They are about the same size, and probably get the same results

He isn't called Cookie for nothing........................................

Waitman got picked up and was out kicking Harvin late in the year, but we cut Waitman when Harvin came back from an injury/family issue for some idiotic reason, don't know if Waitman is available but would love to see a fair camp battle between them if Tomlin will really allow it...

As for the Punter, he will perform closer to why we drafted him than his performance of last season.

Always good to bring in competition and see what happens but I'd bet the competition is just camp body type.

I love it...we worry about punters.

I've talked to some fans of other teams who don;'t even know who their QB is. I exaggerate to clarify, but still.

Bring back the guy who filled in Harvin, can’t remember his name, but I thought he did a great job.

Bring back Whitman in camp to challenge but with no emotional things like his dad on life support he should be focused and he probably better understands the winds at hienz now

Bring in legit competition. Maybe even two more. If they can't figure that piece out in 5 weeks I don't know what to say. It's as close to a closed skill as there is in this sport.

He'll be fine. With his pops in bad health and then later dying, his head wasn't right. If he remains inconsistent early in the season, then it's time to make a change.

You live with his struggles last year and expect improvement in training camp and preseason. He needs competition. If we had a ton of picks, there is an absolute stud punter in this year's draft.

Draft a salad and leg day twice a week, with mobility and flexibility work. Problem solved.

Shows you how serious some of us "fanatics" really are.

Last I heard, Waitman was a Donkey

(y)

On a serious note, who's that kicker from SDSU? Saw him booming 60-70 yard punts like it was nothing.

Okay never mind, Matt Araiza "is set to be one of the highest-selected punters in recent NFL Draft history".

No one gonna bring up the personal issues the kid faced during the season??? Even while missing a few games??? Harvin will be fine.

I was going to bring up the personal issues. It did seem to affect him. He did have some booming kicks mixed in with the shanks. You roll with him again this year but put him on notice that his job isn't safe if he doesn't improve. Finding a mediocre replacement is simple if he falteres again in 22. Then get a new guy for 23.

The Steelers waived Waitman in January (after he averaged 52.1 yards per punt), and he was claimed by the Broncos. Obviously there was no open competition last year, and I wouldn't expect to see anyone else but Harvin punting for the Steelers in 2022, no matter how poorly he performs.
