The Pittsburgh Steelers 2021 draft picks continue to play a big role in this four-game winning streak, led by star running back Najee Harris, and tight end Pat Freiermuth having all of the touchdowns this past weekend against the Chicago Bears. They weren’t alone though because of the guys up front, including rookies Kendrick Green, and Dan Moore Jr. Both these guys have continued to make huge strides in their development. Moore did have his worst game to date, but struggles will happen. That is what happens as rookies in this league, and thankfully, it did not cost the Steelers the game. Pressley Harvin III had his struggles again as he shanked a few punts, but when it mattered the most, he had a big hold on Chris Boswell’s game-winning field goal. It is a high stress situation and the rookie did his job. The surprising stat from this weekend was the amount of snaps from rookie Tre Norwood as he would only log 10 vs the Bears.

Taking a deeper dive into the involvement from the rookies

Harris again makes his mark on the game scoring on the 1st drive for the Steelers with his 10-yard rushing score. He finished the day with 22 rushes for 62 yards and one score. Harris would also have 3 catches on 3 targets. Harris continues to be the workhorse for the Steelers and it is helping the Steelers continue their winning ways.

Pat Freiermuth would continue his touchdown magic as he would snag both of the touchdown passes from Ben Roethlisberger. Freiermuth would finish with 5 catches for 43 yards and 2 scores. He continues to be Ben’s go-to guy in the red zone and for good reason.

Dan Moore and Kendrick Green both continue to grow along with the rest of the offensive line. Robert Quinn would get in the backfield for a sack and had multiple pressures last Monday night, but every rookie has their moments and Moore had his after a tough game against the Bears.

The big surprise out of the rookies was the snap count for Tre Norwood. I am not sure if that was because of the schemes they were playing or what, but after he has made some big plays for this defense, he didn’t see much of the field Monday night.

We will continue to see the good and the bad from these rookies, but the next test comes as the Steelers host the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
