Steelers Among Top Teams in Rookie Snaps

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the teams in the NFL who have really involved their rookies in the beginning of the season. A tweet sent out by Pro Football Focus‘ Mike Renner lists the teams with the most rookie snaps.

Most snaps played by rookies through 4 weeks:

Jets 1,198
Steelers 1,050
Lions 826
Chiefs 826
Packers 781

Many of these snaps are due to the rookies that are currently in the starting lineup. Top of the list for rookies are Dan Moore Jr. with 257 snaps, Kendrick Green with 245 snaps, Najee Harris with 238 snaps, and Pat Freiermuth with 124 snaps.

No surprise here with as many rookies we have contributing. Freiremuth seems to be doing pretty well but does show his rookie-ness. Najee Harris is the real deal but can't shine brightest due to his poor line in front of him. You can see he is churning but just has a big obstacle in front.

AS for the OL rookies, what more can you ask for ? They are 3rd & 4th round rookies thrown into a complicated offensive scheme. I think they are doing as well as they can and need game experience. I also think it is a bit much for them and Experienced help is needed for immediate impact.. If either or both could have sat a year and learned, similar to Dotson last year then I'm sure we would see a way better product.
