Steelers are signing special teams LBer Tanner Muse.

His role seems pretty clear, he has good straight line speed for kickoff and punt coverage. From what I've read his ability to cover receivers doomed his prospects as a safety and too slight to move up as an ILB. Don't know if he's bulked up but they definitely need to replace some of the special team stalwarts like Boykin etc. Good signing for his anticipated job.

Maybe since the Marcus Allen project failed this is another attempt.
Yep, all Tomlin teams have like two to three pure special teams linebackers on them…. Just another example…

The thing that pisssssssssssses me off to no end is that cowher teams would have drafted a developmental lb… taught him special teams, and more often than not they were valuable backups that sometimes developed into starters… we seem to need a lot of no ceiling retreads for these roles

Umm we didn't draft him but Spillane seems to fit your description pretty well. I can think of a few others as well one linebacker in particular who's name I can't remember other than to call him big red.

There is almost always a ST scrub at olb and ilb… sometimes a couple at ilb

I think he did bulk up and had one start if I remember reading correctly. Regardless a good athlete that will get a lot of ST snaps.

I actually think Muse could have a role in defense, unlike Allen and many others. Our current ILBs have zero covering skills, maybe this guy has at least some as he was a S

Cowher has been in the TV booth for almost 2 decades…

If this “pisssssssssssssssssssssssses” you off, you’re gonna be one frustrated hombre in life….And Tomlin doesn’t even know you’re pissed

Always needs these type of players to help solidify the special teams units.

Coach Curry had a hand in this, or at least input.

If he makes the final roster, a different special teams “ACE” needs to be cut. We have too many “ACEs” to load up on more.

I’m not against the signing, I am against Bubbles getting all these “ACEs” at the expense of depth for the team.

They had like I think three special teams guys that they didn't resign. Plus they went heavy on depth acquisitions this offseason. Saying that I don't think STs players will road block any additional adds. I think they will see how the draft unfolds and fill in the rest afterwards. Depth wise they need a CB,WR, OLBer, and a T. Perhaps a S. I think the draft will supply most of if not all of that.

I hear yaz slash. I just needed to vent a little on our inadequate STs coach and how much they have ”bent” in the past to afford him special chanc es of success, instead of replacing him as been needed for quite some time now.

I don't know much about the guy except he is known to make a good chopped beef sandwich. His girlfriend is supposed to be hot, but I need pictures to judge.
