PITTSBURGH -- Wide receiver Justin Brown, who survived the Pittsburgh Steelers’ final cut last weekend, will likely play in his first NFL game on Sunday.
Rookie wide receiver Martavis Bryant (shoulder) has yet to practice this week and probably won’t dress in the season opener even if he is healthy enough to play against the visiting Browns. With Lance Moore nursing a groin injury -- the ninth-year veteran also didn’t practice on Wednesday -- Brown will probably be needed to provide depth at wide receiver.
Brown spent all of last season on the Steelers’ practice squad and the 2013 sixth-round pick made the 53-man roster despite catching just five passes for 32 yards in four preseason games.
Brown has been playing extensively in the slot, and he would likely replace Moore as the Steelers’ No. 3 wide receiver if the latter is unable to play Sunday.
The Steelers remain in good shape overall from an injury standpoint.
Bryant and Moore were the only players who didn’t practice on Wednesday and cornerback Brice McCain (groin) was a limited participant in drills.
Linebacker Sean Spence (knee), long snapper Greg Warren (knee) and tight end Matt Spaeth (hamstring) were all full participants in practice.
For the Browns defensive tackle Desmond Bryant (wrist) and guard Paul McQuistan (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. Defensive end John Hughes (hamstring) was a limited participant in drills.
