This one stings. This was one of my first draftnik wants a few years after I started following schools for potential draft picks. I followed Colorado closely and pimped him and Kordell to the Steelers.

50 is way too young to go IMO. RIP Charles my best wishes and prayers go out to your family and friends.

Certainly too young. It's gotta be devastating to his family.

Man, we were scouting/drafting the heck out of Colorado at the time... Johnson, Joel Steed, Kordell, Chad Brown, Figures... all in a span of 3 years.

Yep that was when Colorado was pumping out solid prospects. Non Steelers around that time was Salaam and Westbrook too. Figures could have been something special too, the gunshot really derailed his career.

I guess you could say Chad was the most successful of the bunch. Ol Mr. snake farmer.

RIP CJ, loved your on field and off field as well.

Condolences to his family and friends.

I may disagree here and don't sell Kordell short. Kordell "balled" out including his early "slash" years as well as his QB years to a degree. He was way better than most here give him credit. He was the First ever STEELERS QB to break a 60+ percentage completion on the season.

His Jersey sales went to #1 FASTEST ever for an NFL player and I don't think that has been matched sense.

I'm not degrading Brown but I just want Kordell in that mix as well.

RIP CJ. He was a really good player. When they drafted him I thought he was gonna put them over the top. But he was still good.

He was number 2 on my list, and where I got my username. I will always show him love. Even when some others don't.👊

Totally hear yaz slash and yes, I knew that about your username.

I knew a lady who knew Kordell from his playing days at Colorado, she told me all kinds of great stories about him and off feild politeness.

I experienced some of Kordell's kindness after a Baltimore game in PITTSBURGH, he was awesome (long story).

All Good

Lot of WR have passed away young recently. RIP CJ.

This year about 64 players have passed and about 4 were WRs. Probably about half of them were young.

Are you good at basket weaving? Something ****.... Talking football isn't your strong suit.

Demaryius Thomas was 33 and CJ Johnson was 50. Vincent Jackson dead at age 38. Young WR's who have players passed. How many under 51 have passed and how may under 40 or your "about 64 players " have passed? Something tell me math and football aren't your strong suits. Basket Weaving? Sorry to disappoint you that is not one of my hobbies.

I'll be waiting for your non-answer to my football statement. I doubt I get one.

Two of the three players you mentioned didn't pass this year. This is 2022 not 2021. So that would not be recent meatball. And again compared to the other positions it wouldn't be considered a lot. Your bulb is as dim as they come. No need for me to regurgitate numbers that I already provided you with dufus.

Well, English and typing certainly are not your strong suits.

You are intelligent in your own mind only. This is July, 7 months into the year. 2021 isn't recent you maroon pointy cap wearing twatwaffle.

Skip your idiotic posts now what fun would that be? I don't go to a party and skip out on pinning the tale on the donkey.

The first Steelers QB to have a 60% completion rate does not equate to Kordell being a “baller.”
He was 3 incompletions away from being 59% - and with only 14 TDs that year he was far from prolific. Consider: Maddox outperformed Stewart and he was out of the league for 5 years selling insurance.

The best selling jersey doesn’t mean he was a “baller” either. In fact, even using that as a basis for argument has no credibility.

Hey, even I got on that hype train and got a Kordell jersey. 1997 had me believing—God I’m admitting this as if I’m an addict and saying I have a problem for the first time—that Kordell Stewart was better than Brett Favre. Man, wanting it to be true doesn’t make it so….

I actually like Kordell. I think he gave everything he could and honestly gave his best. I truly respect that. And I really believe if he tucked the ball in and ran it vs. Denver in 1997 on both end zone INTs, we’d have had 14 points and on the way to the Super Bowl.

But he didn’t. It’s harsh, but he didn’t get it done and what’s more, the losses in AFCCG were heavily on him.

Kordell "balled" out mostly in his "slash" years, I should have been clearer in my staement. His fastest #1 jersey sales also came due to his slash years. Regardless of the numbers he was still the first STEELERS QB to acheive above 60% completion for the season, must have done something right.

Not here to argue but if Chad Brown is mentioned than Kordell needs to mentioned as well.. I don't remeber Chad with any sack leader titles / most team tackles / or DPOY awards either.

My comparison was meant to be Kordell's STEELERS career vs Chad's STEELERS career.

Thanks for all your great post(s) along the way.!

I thought he balled out well in his "slash" role. His quest for money road blocked what he was really great at. For me it was what could have been.
