Anyone think we would be glad the defensive backs made so many great plays tonight? They were supposed to be our weakest links. Glad they came to play.

Throughout the season Blake, McCain, and Gay have produced more than the rest combined.

as it should stay for as long as the season goes.............

is it conincidence that our d has looked at it's best w/o futur HOF Troy P and long time veteran Ike no longer starting..>
I think not

The young defensive backs are getting more comfortable in Lebeau's scheme. They may not be big but they're quick and disruptive. Of course the improved pass rush helps too.

Blake still stinks in coverage.

Sure he made a couple plays like the forced fumble, but he got beat all night long.........

244 yards 2 TD Dalton / I can live with it

Blake is a thumper. McCain is a ball-hawk. Looks like Dick Lebeau was right about these guys in the preseason.

Blake, McCain, and Gay have played very, very well. What a blessing in disguise for this D. Now were able to get pressure on the QB now too with Harrison, Tuitt, Heyward and Worilds. Btw - love the physical play by Blake and his ball hawking abilities (had a nice strip tonight). The D is gelling at just the right time.

They have to make just enough plays to keep us in t with our offense when they're on. If Bell is out we will need them to keep making splash plays to advance.

I think this offseason we draft a CB with our top pick...might even move up to grab one....

And that is basically with ONE real receiver. The second in receiving yards was a running back.

If they one other receiver worth half a **** as Green those numbers would be drastically different. Didn't they lose a starting TE too?

I don't have that much faith in this secondary.

They are the weak link and the pass rush. But the team can win with how they played today. Both mentioned units have been playing better. Not world beaters but better.

AJ Green does not approve of this thread. I hope he is ok, but glad he did not finish the game. I kept on waiting for him to break off a 60 yarder.

Listening to 700wlw down here in cincy and dave lapham was opining on the locker room post game show about how the league might be fining mitchell for his "helmet to helmet hit", dumb ************ isnt even aware that there was no h2h contact.

Did they get the job done that was asked of them? That's all that matters.

Blake if I remember striped a receiver in the end zone to keep the kc receivers with out a touch down. I thought coverage was pretty good and they stopped the other team several times, as well as getting turn overs.

Sure, against one viable receiver. Great job!

Might have been different if there was even a half a threat on the other side.

The secondary has jelled hopefully it can holdup... Pass rush has improved bit if a chicken and egg thing but Blake is a scrapper he's dont a lot to stiffen things up... He still plays too far off but I think that the fear of the coaches of a giving up a big play. Defense is bringing it at the right time. Gooooooo stillerssssssss

They can only play the people who are out there. They did the job that was asked of them. You people with your "Might have beens" ... It wasn't. They won. Game Over! And you're right, it WAS a GREAT job!

McCain made two plays tonight that Taylor probably does not make. Blake can look outstanding in coverage one minute and awful the next. However, given where these guys were at the start of the year, they've developed nicely. Get the pass rush going a little and the defense is good enough to win a game.

Someone mentioned getting a corner back high in the draft earlier. I read an update on the draft on the nfl site and they have 11 teams picking ahead of us now needing corner backs. It seems that the most selected things in the draft according to this particular article were corner back, quarter back, pass rusher, and offensive tackle not in any particular order. Seems that every team needs the same things the steelers need and it is unlikely if this guy has any clue that great talent in the areas of need will drop to us. I hope we pick last but I am not sure what we will be able to get in the next draft.
