If he's a better fit than any of the WRs...why not. Arthur Smith has TEs all over the place and that kid looks great.

I hope we go Dline 1st pick, however.

Why not? Pat Freiermuth. Why not? Kenneth Grant, Derrick Harmon. TE isn't even in the top 5 needs for this team.

I'm getting my ideas together for my first ever NFL draft party. What do you guys usually do?
I move the TV to the back deck and soak up the much needed sunshine sipping on icy cold liquid bread and smoke a huge chunk of protein. Last year it was a turkey. Not sure on what to make this year...any suggestions?

You could do a chicken and either brisket or pulled pork.
You could have the bird first night and then your overnight smoke for day 2.
The draft is so effing long that you may need to grill a steak by day 3.

First WR meeting

Jack Bech-TCU - informal

Draft Profile: Bio

Jack Bech emerged as a multi-sport star at St. Thomas More High School, where he didn't just play football – he dominated. The 6'1", 214-pound receiver helped lead his team to two state championships in football while also securing three straight basketball titles, showcasing the athletic versatility that would later define his college career. As a senior, Bech put up video game numbers with 1,391 yards and 16 touchdowns, earning first-team all-state honors and drawing attention from premier programs nationwide.

After initially committing to Vanderbilt, Bech flipped to LSU where he immediately made an impact, leading the Tigers with 43 receptions as a true freshman. Following a sophomore season that saw limited opportunities, he transferred to TCU where he would ultimately find his groove. The move proved transformative – in 2024, Bech exploded for 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns, joining an elite group of TCU receivers to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark alongside NFL first-rounders Josh Doctson, Quentin Johnston, and Jalen Reagor.

His collegiate journey culminated in an emotional MVP performance at the 2025 Senior Bowl, where he honored his late brother Tiger by wearing his number 7 jersey. The six-catch, 68-yard showing with the game-winning touchdown served as a powerful testament to both his playing ability and mental fortitude. Beyond the numbers, Bech's career has been marked by clutch moments – from his crucial fourth-down conversion against Texas A&M as a freshman to his 200-yard eruption against UCF in his final season.

Scouting Report: Strengths

  • Elite catch focus and concentration in traffic - consistently extends away from his frame and snags throws with vice-grip hands even with defenders draped all over him
  • Master of controlling catch space - uses sophisticated body positioning and timing to box out defenders like a power forward posting up in the paint
  • Runs with controlled anger after the catch - consistently breaks first contact and shows outstanding contact balance when working through traffic
  • Advanced understanding of finding soft spots against zone coverage - sits down in windows with veteran savvy and presents a clear target
  • Physical hands fighter in press coverage - employs quick, decisive counters to defeat jam attempts and maintain clean release paths
  • Exceptional ball tracking on deep throws - adjusts naturally to the ball in flight and rarely gets thrown off by late defensive contact
  • Creates late separation at the top of routes through subtle push-offs and veteran savvy that borders on artistry
  • Reliable chain-mover who rises to the moment - delivered multiple critical fourth-down conversions throughout his college career

Scouting Report: Weaknesses

  • Lacks ideal long speed to consistently separate vertically - struggled to stack corners who can match his physicality through the stem
  • Route breaks can be rounded off rather than sharp - takes extra steps to gear down which allows defensive backs to stay in phase
  • Despite size and strength, blocking effort and technique are inconsistent - will sometimes lose focus and fail to sustain through the whistle
  • Single season of high-end production raises questions about consistency and development trajectory at the next level
  • Average explosiveness out of breaks limits separation potential against NFL-caliber corners in man coverage situations

Scouting Report: Summary

Bech's film shows a receiver who can step in and contribute from day one in the right system. The fit matters here - teams running heavy play-action and needing a reliable intermediate target should have him higher on their board than those looking for a vertical field-stretcher. His skill set screams third-day steal, especially given his proven ability to win in contested situations and create after the catch.

The more tape I watch, the more convinced I am that Bech will outperform several receivers drafted ahead of him. He's not going to burn anyone deep, but his combination of physicality, route polish, and vice-grip hands reminds me of how Anquan Boldin carved out a stellar career without elite speed. Teams will need to scheme him touches in the short and intermediate areas where his strength and contact balance can shine. A creative offensive coordinator will move him around the formation, using him in bunch sets and as the point man in stack releases to help defeat press coverage.

In a class full of height-weight-speed specimens, Bech stands out as a player whose game is built on technical mastery rather than raw tools. He's shown enough on film to project as an immediate contributor in three-receiver sets, with the upside to develop into a dependable WR3 who quarterbacks trust in critical situations. Don't overthink this one - Bech is the type of receiver who simply knows how to get open and make tough catches when it matters most.

Seems to be a trend with the WR's they are meeting with, and I'm for it. Most are big tall guys, Golden being the shortest at 6'. Enough of the small guys, get the big physical WR out on the edge that can out muscle, out position, and run thru tackles. We don't NEED a speedster, but if they have speed with the size, even better.

I think the QB's and WR's are getting measured today and workout tomorrow. Today is the DB's and TE's workout. OL workouts are sunday, so we should see any meetings for them start to show up tomorrow.

Ahhh....I remember those good old days when the draft was on the weekend. A bunch of my friends got together and watched while playing cards. Good eats available. Choice of beverage of course. Now that they start on Thursday....well it sucks. At least the owners are making more money.

As much as I believe we need to go DL in Rd. 1, it sure would be nice to have a flashy new toy for our new QB to play with. If we go WR in Rd. 1, I'd love it if we went DL, DL, RB immediately after. I (and others) have preached for years it all starts with the big uglies and you work your way out from there. Our OL is in much better shape for next year assuming they are healthy. The DL needs major top pieces. Ogunjobi should be cut. Benton took a step back. Cam could lose a couple of steps at any moment given his age. We need better players on the DL. I am also still in the camp of using a true NT and not just having two 300-pounders on the DL to go with two 250-260-pound OLB's. If the guys in the middle can't command double teams, Watt will get double and triple-teamed on every play. If they go with two DL, both must be big and athletic. I'm talking 6'4" and 320 pounds that can play both the run and pass.

Elic Ayomanor-Stanford

This guy is very intriguing. He ROASTED Travis Hunter.
