The Pittsburgh Steelers are enjoying their long week of rest since their Thursday night matchup against the Minnesota Vikings as they prepare to take on the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at Heinz Field. Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin took to the podium again for his weekly press conference Tuesday afternoon, and indicated how there’s already been a “decent amount of energy” at the facility this week.

Tomlin opened up his press conference mentioning how exciting it is to potentially get some guys back from injury. These players included were DL Carlos Davis, DL Isaiah Buggs, LB TJ Watt, LB Alex Highsmith, OL Joe Haeg, OL J.C. Hassenauer, and CB Joe Haden. As always, practice participation this week and the display of readiness will be the coaching staff’s guide as far as who suits up come Sunday.

Tomlin says he's open to perhaps playing Buddy Johnson more, but noted that Robert Spillane also could be back this week.

As for the Titans, Coach Tomlin highlighted QB Ryan Tannehill‘s ability to not just be an efficient passer, but his effectiveness scrambling with the football as well. Even with the loss of All-Pro RB Derrick Henry, the Titans also still possess a potent running attack; a department on defense the Steelers have severely struggled in the last few weeks. Coach Tomlin also recognized S Kevin Byard as an exceptional talent, and a player the Steelers need to keep an eye out for.

Before Tomlin wrapped things up, of course he was asked about the Chase Claypool first down celebration at the end of the Vikings game on Thursday, which Tomlin responded:

Tomlin on Claypool: "We don't wait for things like that to happen. We go over that in our two-minute teaching." Said he had a misstep there and other missteps during the game. Said the Steelers will keep moving forward. "These guys don't come to you as finished products."

Davis has been out for so long I wonder-ponder what he brings to the table at this point.

Tomlin "we don't get these guys in as a finished product"

That is very true Coach Tomlin but you'd think that after Chase Claypool has been coached and influence by NFL coaching for nearly two years..... Well that reflecks on both player and coaching.

Maybe HEAVIER GRITsandpaper might help yaz get to a more finished product.

We don't know what went on behind closed doors and Claypool definately needs to be held accountable and I hope he was.

I guess I should be used to no Tuitt news at this point. this is one of the strangest deals I can recall

Has Haden even sniffed the practice field in 4 weeks? If not, I'd be surprised if he's miraculously ready this week. I hope he is because we can shut the Titans down in their passing game. Then we need to work on the run.

This has to be mentally related. If it was just physical I think team would’ve been more transparent on a time frame or flat out shut down for the year. Hope he gets the help he needs. Awful situation fans need to be more sympathetic to. These guys aren’t machines or get to reset with a power reset like a video game. As a fan I’m frustrated we haven’t had him to help our D line too but we don’t know all the details…….

Disclaimer to Blitz: I said all that after my initial reaction to your post was the same thing. Strange. Just seen other people run the guy down and don’t agree with it.

One could hope Tomlin is injured and couldn't coach. Love to IR the piece of ****.

I most definately have compassion but like many,...... how many here get 6+ months fully paid when they lose a loved one. That's the frustration being felt.

Can he play currently, who knows as not much detail has been released. I feel for him.

Most would be back by now but with as much time that has passed and he isn't back on the field of play,..... odds are stacking up against him ever playing at the high level he had been playing, again. A year off at his age / injuries could be a career ender.

We don't wish injury on players or coaches. Being a Steeler fan try to be better than this. Being a human being try harder.
